𼚠For those who recently found out you are pregnant and expecting early 2027, congratulations! This is about the size of what your baby currently looks like đ¤
Even amongst the excitement and joy of a new pregnancy, the first trimester is often times accompanied with some rough morning sickness. đŠđ¤˘
Usually, these symptoms can include nausea, actual vomiting, and food aversions; and suddenly you might crave random things you havenât thought of in years because itâs the only thing you can imagine eating that day.
Morning sickness typically comes on between 5-7 weeks and usually tapers off sometime between 12-15 weeks.
If youâre worried about nutrients and eating, remember this- ânourishment over perfection.â Keeping food and fluids down consistently matters more than eating a perfectly balanced diet every day. First trimester can often feel like survival mode!
1. Try small, simple and basic snacks every 1â2 hours. Crackers, toast, nuts, cheese, fruit, yogurt, smoothies. Whenever youâre feeling a window to snack, take advantage of it!
2. Prioritize protein whenever possible!
Protein often stabilizes blood sugar longer than carbs alone and may reduce the âroller coasterâ nausea feeling. Turkey, chicken, cottage cheese, trail mix, and hard boiled eggs are just a few ideas.
3. Dehydration can worsen nausea fast. We encourage âmicro-sippingâ instead of forcing large amounts of water, which can trigger nausea.
Sip on things like ice water, electrolyte drinks, coconut water, lemon water/lemonade, and herbal teas safe in pregnancy (like ginger or peppermint in moderation), or enjoy popsicles, crushed ice, or fruit đ with high water content.
We know this is a tough part of pregnancy, but you can get through this one step at a time!
**If you have severe symptoms and literally cannot keep any liquids down even in small amounts, please make sure you talk with your provider!*
Mamas, what tips and advice would you give other mamas going through this right now? đđđź
