Today at approximately 1426 hours we responded with Oneco Fire Department to a reported camper fire at 237 Newport Rd with possible exposures. Upon the first units arrival they found an old camper being used as a chicken coop with fire and smoke showing from the front corner. The metal siding was quickly removed and the fire was extinguished. The fire appeared to be from a heat lamp that may have fallen. However the incident is under investigation by the Sterling Town Fire Marshall.

This afternoon we responded with Oneco Fire Department to Western Coventry to assist at a brush fire on Rt 14 just over the state line. Both Departments deployed there UTV's and helped supply water.

Supplying mutual aid is a big part of being a member of the Fire Department as well as receiving it. Everyone needs assistance and it is a great opportunity to work with other departments and grow friendships.

Today at approximately 1105 hours, we where dispatched with Oneco, M/P Ambulance, QV Medic and CSP to Wacky Pond for a Dirtbike through the ice with an unknown if any victims. Upon Car 167 arrival it was found that the item was in the river at the bottom of the dam. The item was determined to be a bicycle that had been in the river for an extended length of time and was covered in ice as well as being observed by members in the past during trainings. One member entered the water in a survival suit and removed several items from the shallow water to prevent any further calls. Sterling DPW responded to remove the items. Personel cleared the scene by approximately 1140 hours.
