Soil pH doesn’t just affect growth—it changes how nutrients behave. It alters phosphorus chemistry in the soil, shaping which forms are present and how they interact with other compounds. That, in turn, directly influences how available phosphorus is to plants. Short, science-backed, and easy to share.

For over 60 years at WGN Radio, Orion was more than just a broadcaster; he was the primary link between the American farmer and the world. His booming voice provided the daily heartbeat of agribusiness, offering steady guidance and market wisdom through decades of change.

We are especially grateful for his lifelong commitment to the FFA. As a former member himself, he never forgot his roots, serving as a powerful advocate for the next generation of agricultural leaders. His voice inspired countless students to wear the blue corduroy jacket with pride, ensuring the future of American farming remained in capable hands.

Thank you, Orion.

Broadcasting has lost one of its greatest pioneers. WGN Radio mourns the passing of Orion Samuelson at the age of 91.

The annual Soil Test Summaries (average soil test values and basic stats for the year), Soil Test Trend Summaries (graphs containing the average soil test values over time), and Soil Sampling History Summaries (historical record of what fields that were sampled this year sorted by growers) have been loaded the ALGL Client Portal for ALGL business account holders. Our apologies for the delay in their release, we had some technical difficulties getting them loaded. This is a milestone as the Soil Test Trend Summary includes up to 30 years of data for our long-term clients.
