Family Day 2026 at Boose Aluminum Foundry

The weather forecast had us watching the skies all week, but the rain held off and we were able to enjoy a fantastic Family Day at BAF!

Throughout the day, employees welcomed family members and friends to the foundry, sharing a firsthand look at the work they do every day through guided tours. Guests also enjoyed a delicious meal from Mission BBQ, our Foundry in a Box demonstration, games, door prizes, and a Christmas Card Coloring Contest.

One of the highlights of the day was our food drive. Thanks to the generosity of our employees, families, and friends, **more than 1,000 food items** were donated to help support those in need in our community. As a thank you, attendees received a ticket for each donated item, and one lucky winner went home with a new **Blackstone grill**.

We also gave away several custom-made BAF co****le boards as door prizes, which were a huge hit.

A special thank you to **Refrotech** for their support of Family Day through donated items and assistance with the event. We appreciate their partnership and contribution to making the day a success.

Thank you to everyone who attended, donated to the food drive, and helped organize this event. We are grateful for the families and friends who support our employees every day, and we appreciate everyone who helped make Family Day 2026 such a success.

Stay tuned as we'll be announcing the winner of our Christmas Card Coloring Contest soon!

🔥 Fire Prevention Week - Day 5: Support Your Local Fire Department 🚒

As we wrap up Fire Prevention Week, we'd like to recognize and thank the firefighters and first responders who work every day to protect our homes, businesses, and communities.

Local fire departments do much more than respond to emergencies. They provide fire prevention education, safety training, community outreach, and stand ready when help is needed most.

There are many ways to support your local fire department:

✅ Volunteer your time
✅ Attend community events and fundraisers
✅ Make a donation when possible
✅ Learn and share fire safety practices with family and friends

Strong communities are built when people come together to serve and support one another.

From all of us at Boose Aluminum Foundry, thank you to the firefighters, first responders, and volunteers who help keep our communities safe.

🚒 People. Prevention. Stronger Together.

From student to supervisor!

QC Supervisor Ellissa Kunkel recently returned to her alma mater, Pennsylvania College of Technology to represent BAF at the school's Career Fair alongside Director of Operations Steve Mahalak.

Meeting students who are preparing to enter the workforce was a great opportunity to share what makes manufacturing such a rewarding career path and showcase the exciting work happening every day at BAF.

A big thank you to Penn College and all the students who stopped by our booth. We enjoyed the conversations and look forward to seeing where your careers take you!

🔥 Day 4: Charge Smart, Charge Safe 🔥🔋

Charging your devices may seem routine, but unsafe charging practices can increase the risk of battery fires.

Keep charging safe by following a few simple tips:

✅ Use the manufacturer's approved charger
✅ Charge devices on a hard, stable surface
✅ Keep charging devices away from bedding, furniture, and other combustible materials
✅ Unplug devices if they become unusually hot

❌ Don't charge damaged batteries
❌ Don't leave charging devices under pillows or blankets
❌ Don't ignore signs of overheating

A few smart charging habits can go a long way toward preventing fires and protecting your home and family.

⚡ Charge smart.
🔋 Stay safe.

🔥 Day 3: Watch for Damaged Batteries 🔥🔋

Not all battery hazards are obvious.

If a battery is swollen, leaking, cracked, corroded, or unusually hot, stop using it immediately. Damaged batteries can fail unexpectedly and may start a fire.

⚠️ Warning signs to watch for: ✅ Swelling or bulging
✅ Leaking fluid
✅ Corrosion around terminals
✅ Cracked or damaged casing
✅ Excessive heat during use or charging

If you notice any of these signs, safely remove the battery from service and follow proper disposal or recycling procedures.

A damaged battery isn't worth the risk.

🔋 When in doubt, replace it.
🔥 Prevent fires before they start.

🔥 Day 2: Don't Toss Batteries in the Trash 🔥🔋

Think that "dead" battery is harmless? Think again.

Even used batteries can contain enough energy to spark a fire if they're crushed, punctured, or damaged in the trash stream.

✅ Recycle batteries at approved collection locations
✅ Store used batteries safely until they can be recycled
✅ Follow local recycling guidelines for proper disposal

Proper battery recycling helps protect our environment, our property, and our communities from preventable fires.

♻️ Recycle batteries.
🔥 Prevent fires.
🏘️ Protect your community.

🔥 Fire Prevention Week - Day 1: Battery Safety Starts at Home 🔥🔋

This week is Fire Prevention Week, a time dedicated to raising awareness about fire hazards and sharing simple steps we can all take to keep our homes, workplaces, and communities safe. Throughout the week, Boose Aluminum Foundry will be sharing daily tips focused on battery safety, an often-overlooked source of fires in today's world.

Today's reminder is simple: Battery Safety Starts at Home.

✅ Store batteries in a cool, dry place
✅ Keep batteries away from direct sunlight and heat sources
✅ Prevent contact with metal objects such as keys, screws, loose change, or tools
✅ Regularly inspect batteries for signs of damage

Whether it's household batteries, rechargeable tool batteries, or batteries used in everyday electronics, proper storage can help reduce the risk of fires and keep everyone safer.

Small steps make a big difference. Join us all week as we share additional battery safety tips for Fire Prevention Week.
