THEY DIDN’T JUST BEAT YOU.

They told you not to notice.
And called you hateful if you did.

That is the quiet cruelty at the center of what’s now before the Supreme Court.

It comes from West Virginia, where girls are asking the Supreme Court a question that used to answer itself.

As a lawyer who has argued before appellate courts, I never thought the obvious would need defending.

This isn’t a debate about sports.
It’s a demand that women accept their own erasure — politely.

We were told to be inclusive.
We were told to be kind.
We were told fairness “evolves.”

But biology didn’t get the memo.

Women trained for years under rules that were clear, fair, and rooted in reality.
They woke up early.
They drove in the dark.
They pushed through pain.
They sacrificed time they will never get back.

And then the rules changed.

Not because science changed.
Not because fairness evolved.
But because noticing reality became unacceptable.

Let’s be brutally honest about what is happening.

It isn’t progress.
It’s theft — followed by a demand for silence.

Women’s sports exist for one reason:
Because without them, women lose.

Not emotionally.
Not symbolically.
Mathematically.

When a biological male takes a podium spot, he doesn’t just take a medal.
He takes a scholarship.
He takes a roster spot.
He takes a moment a woman trained a decade to earn.

Those losses are permanent.

And the most enraging part?

Women are being told the theft itself is kindness.
That objecting is hate.
That fairness is exclusion.
That saying “woman” out loud is an act of aggression.

You can scream “bigot.”
You can threaten careers.
You can silence dissent.

But you cannot gaslight us into believing male puberty is irrelevant.

This is the villain — plainly stated:

An ideology that treats women’s hard-earned opportunities as acceptable collateral damage.

Institutions that praised women’s strength — until protecting them became inconvenient.
Organizations that told women to work harder — then quietly moved the finish line.
A system that celebrates effort, but punishes anyone who notices when the rules stop applying equally.

If the Supreme Court cannot say the obvious — that women’s sports are for women — then the message is unmistakable:

Train.
Sacrifice.
Obey the rules.

Just don’t expect fairness when it conflicts with ideology.

Some of the women who lost won’t get another chance.

Eligibility expires.
Bodies age.
Windows close.

There is no rematch for a stolen season.
No redo for a lost scholarship.
No appeal for a moment that already passed.

And the most unforgivable part?

They’re being told this was kindness.
That this was progress.
That this was necessary.

It wasn’t.

It was easier than telling the truth.

Reality is not a hate crime.

And women paid the price.
