People often struggle with the money spent on itens cluttering their home. I love this sentiment:

You're not saving money by keeping stuff you don't use. You've already spent that money. Stop playing a game for it with your space and peace of mind. (From: https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1CzZmZQMLU/)

So, what can we learn from this?
1 - We can attempt to sell itens to recoup some of the money
2 - We can share with someone we know that would actually use the item. The key to this is actually getting the item to the other person...not leaving it to give them "another time" 😉
3 - Truly consider future purchases. Ask yourself "Will I really use this?" and/or keep tags and receipts incase it comes home and isn't actually used. Then the item can be returned for a refund 🤑
4 - Just because something is on sale does not mean it is worth the money spent. If the item is never used once purchased, it's not a deal.

Fantastic read!

Last year (and the year before) I reversed the hangers in my closet so I could see what I actually wore. Today I went in my closet, found the hangers that weren’t reversed and put those clothes in a donate bag.

Part of me actually thought, “But what if you wear it? Or need it?”

Even after a year.

Later today I was driving home and thought, “What if I tried to not buy anything new and just used up what I had this year?”

All the stuff - it holds a grip. That’s what I realized this year. Everytime I let go - of stuff or emotions or resentment or fear or things - it makes space.

Space for opportunities.
Space to think.
Space.

So yeah, that’s one of the lessons from the reversed closet hangers.

Try it.

It’s actually empowering. And revealing. (I tend to wear the same things….and don’t “need” all I have.)

Lessons from 2024 and 2025.

-Rachel

Ps… if you haven’t tried it — you reverse all of your hangers and then when you wear something you put it back the “correct” way. Then you get a visual of what you actually wear.

Before Christmas, I encouraged you to consider what you might want to downsize for holiday decor donations.

Now, as the holidays are behind us, I feel the organization bug. There are new items needing homes, I'm thinking ahead to the new year, and my brain gets buzzing!

Anyone else find yourself in this headspace after Christmas???
