There’s a different feeling voting in a swing state.

I’m so grateful for everyone who quickly made a new plan amidst the rubble of Helene to ensure that as many people as possible in western North Carolina could cast their vote in this election.

In Greenville, The Runway Relief Project has been flying supplies to various locations in need.

They are looking for anyone who needs supplies, including medical. If you know of any group or person who needs support, text 864-412-6225 with the address and list of needs.

They will bring anything and everything—water, food, medical supplies, geriatric care, insulin, narcan, diapers, hazmat equipment, etc.

Happy last week of 2022 ✨

We are rounding out our week in California, hanging with family and visiting our favorite California places.

I’m filled with love and so much beauty here.

And, as the week away closes, I notice yet again that there is nothing like home for me. My routines (few as they are), our pups, the view of our woods from the deck, the cozy chair in my tiny office…

I have end of year financial stuff, visioning and planning… but first, I need space and open time to myself.

I’m so grateful that I know how important this is now.

It’s been a full week of prepping, new (imperfect) backend tech, beautiful conversations with brilliant souls… and too many hours working.

It’s okay, next week will be way more spacious.

Also, the desk/online speaking area can get pretty unruly when the juggle is intense.

From the camera view, though, it all just looks clean, vibrant and bright. Especially when you have ridiculous numbers of camera lights ✨Magic✨ 😁

I really loved this conversation with my friend on her podcast, Magical Humaning.

WHAT’S YOUR FOX COSTUME?

At our recent virtual retreat, Susan Hyatt brought in to create on-the-spot poems for each of us using one word we provide.

As you can see in the picture, Poetry Fox actually wears a fox costume while he sits at his old school typewriter and types quickly and excitedly.

The word I offered was Unleashed (unsurprisingly).

As I watched him take in each word, spend two beats thinking about it, then start passionately typing away, I wondered how he could tap such incredible creativity on the spot, under what could be described as such “pressure.”

Then I remembered: CREATIVITY IS ALIVE WITHIN US ALWAYS.

Literally, if we surrender to it, there is so much ease and flow and delightfully unexpected expression there waiting.

All there is to do is UNLEASH it.

I’m thinking that the fox costume is Poetry Fox’s reminder that he can fully and completely TRUST his creative expression.

The fox costume isn’t necessary for that creative expression, but it can be nice (and fun) to have a prompt to help us remember that we are wildly brilliantly creative creatures.

Elevating is overrated.

There’s a lot of talk about elevating:
:: Elevate your work
:: Elevate your business
:: Elevate your speaking

I get it. Wherever you are, the “next level” likely means more impact, income and service.

The problem is, focusing on the next level often leads us to missing the mark.

We try harder to do it “right.”

We seek out learning “best practices.”

Too often, we end up losing our genuine voice and message along the way. We are less connected to what our heart really wants to say.

We don’t have to give up our vision of elevating and reaching further, impacting many people.

What I propose, though, is that we move our focus from elevating and turn it toward surrendering - to releasing anything that gets in the way of our fullest, most authentic expression.

Because from this place of full surrender and genuine connection, our impact and growth is endless.

We aren’t exhausted by trying to do it “right” and instead we are energized by letting go and not holding back anymore.

Your stories, your voice, your desires, your vision… they are all so freaking life-changing for the right people. Letting go is the biggest magic.

When I say “charisma,” who comes to mind for you?

Was it a politician? Movie star? Your cousin who lights up a room every time they walk in?

We have a one-dimensional view of charisma in our popular media and conversation, and there’s a sense that charisma is something we either have or don’t have. That it’s not really something we can create and cultivate for ourselves.

This is a complete misunderstanding.

Charisma is actually something people experience around us, not so much something we carry around with us. We experience charisma when there is a combination of power and confidence plus warmth and connection.

It’s really a dynamic, not a trait. And you absolutely can access your ever-present confidence (sometimes it’s just covered up with a lot of thinky thoughts, that’s all) and bring full presence and connection, anytime you want.

It shows up in all varieties of styles, but your Natural Charisma is always ready to shine when you see what it’s really made up of.
