It’s been a winning week in Chicago and a wonderful emphasis on workforce development! Our industry is going to need more than 100,000 additional professionals to meet demand between now and 2032.

As an IREM board member, I’m beyond thankful to be in the room with incredible thought leaders solving the talent crisis. I want to give a huge shoutout to the entire IREM team and highlight the work of Johnny Noon and Rebecca O’Brien as we expand our offerings to engage more students and career changers.

What you do today is important because you are exchanging a day of your life for it. My passion projects always include helping people find their purpose and paving the way for radical success.

To my IREM family, keep up the HEART work and remember the best place to be is TOGETHER.

We ARE better together!

Today's a marvelous, magical, "meet-up" Monday! One of the most beautiful rewards from serving as a volunteer for IREM is the relationships that are born from what once starts as business and then becomes family. Precious people that come into your life and take up residency in your heart is something that unless you experience, it's hard to explain.

I'm in Chicago for our fall board meeting and I had the opportunity to visit with Teri Lind and Brian Lozell before heading out to join the rest of my IREM family. You can always tell the quality of a relationship because no matter how much time passes, you can pick up the conversation where you left off without missing a beat.

Tomorrow isn't promised. Make time for the people and projects that not only spark joy, they ignite you — fueling your fire, feeding your purpose, and faithfully reminding you that the magic lies in what you do together.

Today’s Winning Wednesday celebrates Trevor and Brianna, the front desk team at ROAM in Buckhead. A group of industry leaders from Apartment Life enjoyed lunch and fellowship as we made plans for the upcoming Gala on October 1st.

As I was leaving, I noticed Trevor and Brianna had one of my favorite books, Unreasonable Hospitality. Of course, I applauded them for living the principles taught by Will Guidara.

I shared my favorite takeaway: Everyone Owns the Experience
Guidara flattened hierarchy around hospitality — dishwasher, reservationist, sommelier all empowered and expected to create magic, not just execute their job description.

Simply put: one team, one dream.

Let’s help each other win this Wednesday and every day that ends in “y.”

To all the ROAM teams in Atlanta. Keep winning! Thank you for your intentional hospitality!

Today’s a terrific Tuesday to focus on top-tier talent. This morning I had the honor of headlining for Quinn Residences, and our focus was on playing in our Genius Zone and letting our passion fuel our purpose.

I always enjoy featuring some incredible content like Five Languages of Appreciation by Gary Chapman & Paul White in addition to Shawn Achor’s Big Potential.

Research shows that the happiest people produce positive results:

37% higher sales, 31% greater productivity, 40% greater likelihood of promotion, 23% fewer stress-related symptoms, and much more.

In real estate, we often think about the highest and best use for the property; I encourage you to think about the highest and best use of our talents, abilities, and strengths.

Most people think when they get a job, a promotion, or the next new toy they will be happy. In reality, it’s the reverse: happiness fuels success, not the other way around.

There’s a vast difference between a job, a career, and a calling. Take a minute and do a “heart” check-up. I wager that those on your team who feel their work is their calling are top-tier producers.

Tune into your strengths and team up with people who match your passion.

You can’t spell SUCCESS without the letter “u.”

Today’s “make an impact” Monday features my dear friend Harry Ruiz, Rangewater’s Service Director at The Juliette in Wildwood, Florida. Harry has written one of the most valuable books for our industry, focusing on delivering uncompromising service to our residents and being a high-impact player on a team!

Harry left his career as a marine biologist and began as a porter in Sarasota, Florida, at Signal Pointe Apartments as a porter more than 22 years ago. Today, he leads a service team at The Juliette and takes care of more than 700 residents.

One of my favorite chapters in the book (Chapter 10: The Real Enemy) talks about how often we think someone is the problem or the enemy when, in reality, it’s the issue.

“Too often, leadership becomes a game of self-protection. People want to protect their department, their title, their image, and their authority. And while everyone is busy protecting themselves, the property is left unprotected. That is failure. Residents don’t care whose fault it was. Ownership doesn’t care who won the internal argument; they care about results. If the property succeeds, we will all succeed.”

As we lead our teams, let’s ask, “What will it take to move the needle?” Let’s show up as high-impact leaders and help people win.

Move the needle. Make an impact. Maximize what matters this Monday and every day that ends in “Y.”

Today’s Five-Star, Finish Strong Friday is dedicated to my geniuses at Geheber Lewis Architects! Today’s lunch and learn focused on Communication and Conflict Resolution. GLA gets an A+++++, Five Star Rating in my class because this is a team that defines what it means to “learn and grow together.”

GLA and the founders, Fred Geheber and Alan Lewis have been in my life for more than 35 years. Fast forward to today, under the direction of Mel Esser and her incredible team, they now expanded into Denver and Chicago. I have the honor of being part of their learning and development program.

Just in the last few weeks they’ve added three new team members: Kim Rosero, Andrew Butler and Kino Hamilton.

We shared in our program today that the best report card is when the quality of your work and level of communication earns repeat business.

GLA isn’t just designing and creating incredible spaces, they are creating a great place for people to play in their Genius Zone.

Find what fuels you. Feast on a healthy mental diet. Finish strong!

Today’s Winning Wednesday is focused on the brilliant minds building budgets that create value for Bristol Development. I was honored to kick off this year’s budget workshop with my bonus sister, Lisa Gunderson, and my friend David Hanchrow here in Nashville.

A high-performing team that invests in professional development always outperforms the market because they understand the compound effect of trust, transparency, training, and transformational leadership.

These champions are taking new knowledge back to their teams and executing excellence.

Mindset. Skillset. Action.

Thank you, Bristol Development!!!

Today’s mountain climbing, Move the Needle Monday, was a result of making every minute count here in Denver at RealWorld 2026. The morning kicked off with Dirk Wakeham, RP CEO, and fellow C-suite leaders: Sean Leaver, Lance French, Zahir Khoja, and Hari Subramanian sharing the latest innovation and transformation that will fuel our industry’s rocket of success for the next decade and beyond.

I had the distinct honor of facilitating RW’s Executive Exchange following two of the world’s most distinguished thought leaders in AI: Matt Anderson from Google and Brandon Powell of Hatchworks.

As evidenced by our final panel for the day, the needle has definitely moved in terms of value creation and integration. It’s no longer a concept when real evidence proves the thesis. Thank you, Lance French, for moderating this incredible panel with Lori Oden, United Apartment Group; Char McCurdy, Summit Property Management; Anne Hollander, Winn Companies; and L.D. Salmanson, Cherre.

As we (12 million+) continue to do HEART work in our industry that houses more than 40 million renters, let us never take for granted that one connection, one conversation, one caring moment can be all it takes to create a multiplier effect for positive change.

TIME is how you spend your love. What you do today is important because you are EXCHANGING a day of your life for it.

Make your moments count! Thank you, RealPage, for the magic you make!

Today’s Finish Strong, Feel Great Friday has me celebrating National Book Lovers Day two days early. (It’s actually Sunday, August 9). As I’m preparing for my trip to Denver to facilitate a session at RealWorld, I’ve selected a few of my recent reads to share with some of my dear friends. These four books contain common themes, but what really stands out is the skill in “reading the room.”

Have you ever been on a call or in a meeting and the leader said, “That went well, and everyone bought into the plan,” and clearly you thought otherwise? Charles Duhigg’s book Supercommunicators helps distinguish the words from the types of conversations that take place.

Words carry the message — but emotions carry the meaning.

One last nugget from Covey’s Trust and Inspire: “Don’t treat people according to their behavior; treat them according to their potential.”

Feast on great reads!

Today’s wings, words, and wisdom are a result of me flying the friendly skies with Delta, my favorite airline, and thanks to Terri and Xavier, I’m flying high with so many endorphins.

Smiles are infectious! A kind word and a friendly gesture can be a multiplier effect that truly lifts someone and carries them to higher ground.

It just so happened that Terri Brown, a 42-year veteran flight attendant with Delta, was also on my flight from Denver that got delayed and re-routed to Panama City and then back to Atlanta last Friday. Despite all the challenges that occurred in those 16 hours, she never once lost her joy. In fact, she went out of her way to take care of families, hangry travelers, and displaced passengers.

You may say, “That’s her job,” and while that may be true, her calling is “service.” Terri and I talked about her love for taking care of the customers. Xavier shared the same sentiment.

You can only imagine when I saw her on my flight yesterday. I shared more Believe and Succeed cards along with my famous two-dollar bills. We laughed about smiles and miles!

As you win this Wednesday and every day that ends in “y,” remember there’s a vast difference between a job, a career, and a calling. I’m thankful that I get to live my calling.

An attitude of gratitude can truly set your altitude. Set your mind on things above and keep winning!
