Just a reminder that open burning season ends this Friday, May 1st.

With the beautiful weather we’ve been having here in Stockbridge, it’s been great to get outside and enjoy it!

If you’re getting any burning in before then, please use extra caution. The dry conditions and nice weather can make things spread quicker than expected.

Enjoy the weather and stay safe, Stockbridge!

If you happened to be driving by tonight, you may have seen members out in the parking lot focused on hose advancement.
Hose advancement is the process of moving charged hose lines safely and efficiently into a building or fire area. Drills like this help build teamwork, communication, and the skills needed to get water where it is needed quickly and safely.

School vacation week may have started off a little chilly, but warmer weather is on the way. If you’re out and about, stop by the firehouse and say hello. Our doors are always open… maybe not literally on a day like today. We always love seeing new and familiar faces and showing the trucks off to the kids. 🚒

Earlier this morning, Stockbridge Fire Department responded on mutual aid to Great Barrington Fire Department for a residential structure fire.

Upon arrival, GBFD reported a garage fully engulfed in fire and struck their first alarm, bringing in multiple south county departments for mutual aid assistance. Crews worked together to quickly suppress the fire and prevent further spread.

Stockbridge Fire assisted on scene with hazmat containment after multiple chlorine containers were discovered in the garage.

We were glad to be able to help out alongside the many departments that responded.

We’ve been enjoying some beautiful spring weather here in Stockbridge lately, and this past weekend certainly brought plenty of people into town.

While the roads were busy with extra traffic and visitors, thankfully it was a quiet weekend around town and everyone stayed safe. We’re always happy to see people out enjoying everything Stockbridge has to offer.

With more nice weather on the way, we know there will be even more people out and about. Please take your time, be patient in traffic, and help keep Stockbridge safe for everyone.

Enjoy the sunshine, Stockbridge!

Search and rescue was the focus of tonight’s drill night. Members spent the evening crawling through spaces, working in low visibility conditions, and practicing how to quickly locate and remove victims while communicating as a team. While it may look like fun and games, this kind of training helps make sure we are ready when the real call comes in.
Another great night of training for the members of Stockbridge Fire Department.

❄️ Snow Safety Reminder ❄️

With heavy snowfall, a few simple steps can make a big difference in keeping everyone safe:

❄️ During and After the Snow Falls
• Clear snow from driveways and walkways promptly to prevent slips and falls
• Remove snow from around fire hydrants—every second counts in an emergency
• Keep exhaust vents clear to prevent carbon monoxide buildup

đźš’ Help Emergency Access
• Leave room for plows and emergency vehicles when parking
• Shovel wide paths so first responders can reach homes quickly if needed

🏠 Around the House
• Safely remove excess snow from roofs when possible to reduce collapse risk
• Watch for ice dams and falling snow or icicles

🌨️ Slow Down & Take Breaks
• Snow shoveling is hard work—pace yourself and take breaks
• Push snow when possible instead of lifting

Your awareness helps keep our community and responders safe during winter storms. Thank you for doing your part—and as always, Stockbridge Fire Department is here when you need us 🚒❄️
