Booze Cruzing and camping out at Stone Mountain outside Atlanta. Shopped at one of the two local Costco stores that sell hard liquor. Picked up a 1.75L Larceny for $36 and a 750ml 1792 SB for $24. Much better prices than back home in north Alabama.

If you are a vodka drinker, and I'm not, this article is for you. The take away for me, if I was a vodka drinker, would be to buy Smirnoff. It's good, inexpensive, made in the USA, and easy to find where ever you go.

Throwing a party and want to serve a quality vodka without breaking the bank? Here are our top vodka picks--all under $25!

NEW BOOZE CRUZER BLOG

I just published part two of a three part blog series of our recent 28 day roundtrip cruise from San Diego to the Hawaiian Islands then down to French Polynesia. We sailed on Holland America’s MS Eurodam. Part One covered the first 13 days of the cruise, from San Diego to Fanning Island. Part Two covers 4 days, 2 days in Bora Bora and then a day each in Raiatea and Moorea. The third and final part will cover the last leg of the cruise from Tahiti back to San Diego.

The good folks at Whisky Advocate published a nice list of "beginner bourbons". I have tried all but the Smooth Ambler, and agree with their assessments and recommendations. I will be adding this list to my kit bag of answers to questions from those new to bourbon.

When you’re exploring bourbon for the first time, start with these fundamental whiskeys.

Great article. Well written, researched, and insightful. I'm generally not a big fan of modern day rectifiers / NDP, but this article has given me new information upon which to reflect.

There has been a lot of talk about Non-Distilling Producers lately. Consumers feel they are being deceived by this newest generation of rectifiers and people act as if they are a new phenomenon but…

Thought provoking article, and one with which I am in agreement. Every major distillery I have so far visited waxes eloquently upon their yeast during the tour, but never speaks to it in their marketing. Every startup artisanal distillery I have so far visited uses store bought yeast with little to no regard to its impact upon the flavors and aromas in their final product. IMO, more startups ought to take the approach the Texas startup used that is described in this article.

In the 19th century the term “Master Distiller” was used less and the term “Distiller and Yeast-Maker” was more common. The fact is that yeast making was a very important part of the position of ru…

I am a big fan of non-chill filtered, higher strength Bourbons. I haven't seen this in any of my local stores, so will be on the lookout whenever I travel.

Four Roses Small Batch Select is the first permanent addition to the core line up of this distillery in over a decade, and now we know what its recipe make up is as well.
