Concord harvest! Today was not the quintessential morning to pick grapes but we have some great friends who helped us out despite the heat. Not to mention starting at 7am after a “Steph and Friends” winery event. Who is in charge of planning around here?
We hand picked around 3,000lbs of Concord, slightly less than last year. This season has been a little mixed altogether and so far lagging 2025, “the year of the grape”. We simply had too much rain from May-July and that interferes with fruit set, puts a lot of disease pressure on the grapes, and causes the vines to want to grow leaves and shoots instead of grapes. But as always, we are thankful for everything we get.
Huge thank you to our helpers this morning! If you’d like to join in on the fun (we have 3 harvests remaining) you can send us an email to join the list. We can almost promise the others won’t be as hot as today and they for sure won’t be Concord. If you’ve ever hand picked this grape, you know what we mean.
Worth the work! Cheers to vine to wine 🍇 🍷
