A transformative new chapter is beginning at Advocates for Human Potential (AHP), and our CEO Noah Shifman (tag) has a special message to share.

“We’re a small group of people with an oversized impact,” he explained. “To honor that impact, we’re proud to introduce an Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP)—recognizing the value our team brings and investing in the people behind the work.

For nearly 40 years, we’ve worked to center in health and human services. This step ensures that the experts driving that mission every day are directly invested in our shared future.”

Watch the video below to learn more about this milestone—and what it means for our team and our future.

To truly serve a community, you have to understand and engage it.

In this clip from our 40th Anniversary Conversation Series, former SAMHSA assistant secretary and AHP’s current VP of CTTAC, Miriam Delphin-Rittmon, Ph.D, shares an innovative approach—bringing recovery experts into emergency rooms to meet people where they are and connect them to purposeful care in critical moments.

Miriam offers a powerful reminder that meaningful change often comes from rethinking how and where support shows up.

At AHP, we’re committed to advancing solutions like these—bringing together expertise, lived experience, and community insight to address complex behavioral health challenges.

Join us in Phoenix on April 10 as we continue the conversation on what’s next for community-based care.

Meet Cameron Sweatman, AHP Staff Consultant:

At AHP, our mission is our name: advocating for human potential. Cameron’s career has been consistently focused on supporting people who need it most — from serving as a state Senate communications staffer, to workforce development consulting, to directing college campus programs centered on inclusion and belonging. Helping people has been the throughline from the start.

“If we don’t help the people of the world, the world will help itself to the people,” he says.

In his role at AHP, Cameron works directly with organizations serving people affected by the opioid crisis. He guides client programs with a focus on empathy, partnership, and acknowledging the humanity at the center of the work.

Clients value Cameron’s responsiveness, his commitment to finding answers and solutions, and his ability to keep programs on track. He proactively collaborates with clients to identify opportunities to strengthen their community impact.

Cameron supports statewide initiatives including substance use public awareness campaigns, prevention education for youth, and technical assistance and training for behavioral health professionals — helping client organizations address the crisis from multiple angles.

“Everyone has inherent value and worth. We just have to be willing to see it, and fight for its acknowledgment. I choose to do so through my work each day,” Cameron shared.
