Today I answer my most frequently asked question—on stage, in consulting, and even with my friends. That is:

💭 How do I let go of something that matters so much to me?

I know that question personally. In family relationships, workplace situations, and business, I’ve had to consciously release how I thought things *should* be.

And in that space, I sometimes discovered that what I thought I wanted wasn’t what I truly wanted at all. 💛

In this article, I share those experiences and practical ways to practice non-attachment through the pause, meditation, hobbies, and walks in nature.

🎙️ Inside, you’ll find the video, podcast episode, and additional resources.

Latest video and episode are live now on the blog and YouTube.

Where do you find yourself getting stuck when you try to let go? Share below, or message me if you’d like to talk privately.

🌪️ Ever walked into a room feeling fine—and left feeling responsible for making everyone else feel better?

A meeting. A family gathering. A big event that everyone wants to go perfectly.

One person starts rushing. Another starts reassuring. Someone goes quiet. Before long, the whole room is responding to the pressure.

Whose nervous system is running the room?

In my newest article, I explore how we catch each other’s stress, how Reality Transurfing helps us recognize the pull, and why a pause can change how we participate.

📚 Inside you’ll find the video, podcast episode, bonus resources, and a LinkedIn article exploring the connection to mergers, acquisitions, and human diligence.

Pattern recognition can protect you.

It can also turn your mind into a courtroom where every observation becomes evidence—and every familiar pattern receives a verdict.

But what if you could honor what you notice, draw the boundary, and stop prosecuting the story?

I created a complete resource exploring how high pattern recognition can become certainty, anxiety, and overthinking—and how curiosity, intentional imagination, and disciplined observation can restore your peace and open possibilities you could not see from inside the courtroom.

Inside the article, you’ll find:

If you notice everything—and sometimes struggle to put down the case—come explore this one.

Your peace does not need a verdict.

One difficult moment can make you question your entire future.

One closed door becomes proof that the goal is not yours. One uncomfortable room becomes proof that you do not belong. One urgent problem begins to look like it has only one possible answer.

But pressure narrows what you can see.

Rusty never waited for a title, an invitation, or permission to belong—and people loved him for it. 🐾

This article explores imagination, identity, leadership under pressure, and Reality Transurfing’s Goals and Doors. It also includes the video, podcast episode, bonus resources, and my LinkedIn article on what human diligence can reveal during M&A and private equity transitions.

If pressure has made one interpretation feel like the only interpretation, this may help you see another possibility.

Rusty never waited for permission to belong—and neither should you. Explore how imagination shapes identity, how pressure narrows leadership decisions, and how Reality Transurfing’s Goals and Doors reveal possibilities beyond the immediate threat. ...

What if being really good at recognizing patterns is exactly what causes you to miss something important?

We see something familiar and think:

I know what this means.
I know how this goes.
I know what happens next.

Maybe.

Maybe not.

I've been experimenting with something from Reality Transurfing called an anomalous challenge, but I've started looking at it very differently.

Instead of just doing something unusual or stepping outside your comfort zone, what happens when you introduce one small change inside a pattern you think you already understand?

That's where this gets fascinating.

My latest article explores pattern recognition, prediction, identity, the alternatives space, and how a small anomaly can reveal information you couldn't see while repeating the familiar pattern.

🎥 The video and bonus resources are included inside the article.

You don't always need to break the pattern. Sometimes you need to interrupt the prediction.

An anomalous challenge can do more than break a routine. Learn how interrupting predictions can reveal hidden patterns, improve pattern recognition, expand choices, and open new possibilities through Reality Transurfing, awareness, and non-attachment.

Being good at recognizing patterns has a hidden risk.

Eventually, “I’ve seen this before” can become “I know what this means.”

That distinction matters in leadership, relationships, business, and every decision we make under pressure.

My newest episode explores pattern recognition, false certainty, anxiety—and why curiosity may be one of our most valuable skills. 🧠🔍

Personal page

Apparently, I cannot read minds. 😂

This may disappoint a few people who have accused me of it over the years.

But I can recognize patterns—and lately I’ve been noticing where pattern recognition can quietly turn into certainty.

Maybe. Maybe not.

This one changed something for me. 🧠♟️

Are you mind reading without realizing it? Learn how pattern recognition can become false certainty, fuel anxiety, narrow attention, and affect leadership and relationships—and how curiosity, Reality Transurfing, and “maybe, maybe not” can open new possibilities. ...

🚪 Your mind hates an unfinished story. So sometimes…it writes the ending for you.

A client goes quiet. Someone behaves differently. You notice a pattern. Something shifts at work.

And suddenly, observation becomes interpretation. Interpretation becomes prediction. And prediction starts feeling like fact.

But what if reality hasn’t decided yet?

In this new piece, I explore pattern recognition, uncertainty, Reality Transurfing, the Space of Variations, pendulums—and what happens when we start responding to a future that hasn’t actually happened.

👀 And yes, this one leads into a question I’m becoming increasingly fascinated by: When does pattern recognition start looking like mind reading?

👉 Click the article to explore the full piece. You’ll find the video, podcast episode, and bonus resources all together in one place.

Maybe you’re right about what happens next.

Maybe not. 😉

Uncertainty can turn observations into predictions—and predictions into behavior. Explore pattern recognition, Reality Transurfing, pendulums, human risk in M&A, entrepreneurship, and how the pause helps us separate what we know from the story our minds create.

🕊️ Sometimes we’re not attached to what happened. We’re attached to what we thought was going to happen.

The relationship we pictured.
The business outcome we expected.
The career path we planned.
The deal we thought would close.
The version of the future we had already started living in our minds.

And when reality takes a different turn, our human patterns can show up fast.

We control. We withdraw. We criticize. We overthink. We try to force the path back toward the outcome we expected.

But what if the change in direction just opened something we couldn’t see before?

That’s where Non-Attachment, the Space of Variations, and the Reality Transurfing principle of Advantage get very interesting. 👀

Because finding the advantage doesn’t mean pretending everything that happens is wonderful.

Sometimes it simply means lifting your eyes long enough to notice:

What can I see from here that I couldn’t see before?

This conversation started in the strangest place—a dream about doves. 🕊️

It ended up taking me into relationships, business, leadership, M&A, attention, human patterns under pressure, and the possibilities we miss when we become convinced there is only one acceptable path forward.

I put the whole conversation together in my latest article, including:

🎥 The video
🎙️ The podcast episode

The path you wanted may have been one possibility.
It was never the only one.

🧠 What if the pattern you’re reacting from isn’t actually the truth?

Pressure has a funny way of revealing things.

It shows up in business. In leadership. In relationships. In fitness. In sports. And sometimes in those moments when we’re desperately trying to figure out what happens next.

This week, I did something completely different. I let an AI-generated interviewer ask me the questions. 🤖

And we went EVERYWHERE. 😂

We talked about why I study human patterns under pressure, why professional sports fascinate me, what decades in fitness taught me about human behavior, Reality Transurfing and non-attachment, dreams, uncertainty, AI, creativity—and why I’ve learned that observation does not create obligation.

But there’s one idea I keep coming back to:

✨ What if you don’t know yet?

What if you don’t need to force the answer?

What if curiosity could show you something certainty never would?

I put the whole conversation together in my latest article, including the video 🎥 and podcast episode 🎧, so you can watch, listen, or read—whatever works for you.

And if something in my work has you thinking about a pattern in your own life, leadership, business, or next chapter, you’re also welcome to start a conversation with me.
