I always recommend paying attention to termite signs around homes in Surprise and the West Valley, especially during September.

The problem with termites is you usually don't see the termites themselves. It might start with a thin mud tube along the foundation or a small area of wood that suddenly doesn't look right.

Those little signs are easy to ignore, but termite activity can continue where you can't see it.

I recently handled a termite job here in Surprise that started with a homeowner finding a couple of mud tubes along the house.

I shared what we found and how we handled it in this month's journal.

I always appreciate when homeowners around Surprise and the West Valley take the time to leave a review after working with us.

Here's a recent 5-star review from Cyndy Vey, a customer in the area:
"Great communication from start to finish. I love that this company did not pressure me into a contract. I especially like the program Deal Pest Control uses as it allows the customer to see where the technician is (in the tech's line of daily customers) so you can determine when the tech will arrive at your house."

Reviews like this mean a lot because we work hard to make every visit straightforward, honest, and stress-free from the first phone call to the completed service.

Thank you, Cyndy, for trusting our team and taking the time to share your experience.

When I'm dealing with a spider problem, I'm not just looking at the webs someone noticed.

I'm trying to figure out why the spiders chose that area in the first place.

Around Surprise and the West Valley, I usually inspect garages, patios, rooflines, block walls, landscaping, and other shaded areas where spiders commonly hide.

I also look for the insect activity that's attracting them because solving that part often makes the biggest difference over time.

The best results usually come from treating the current activity while making the property less attractive for spiders moving forward.

Before you call anyone for spiders, spend a few minutes looking around the outside of your home.

I usually tell homeowners to remove fresh webs as soon as they appear instead of letting them build up. Then check garages, patios, storage areas, and around outdoor furniture where spiders like to hide.

I also recommend trimming shrubs away from the house and reducing outdoor insect activity since that's one of the biggest reasons spiders stick around.

These simple steps can help make your home much less inviting.

I start getting more spider calls around Surprise and the West Valley in August than most people would expect.

Usually, it doesn't start with someone finding a large spider. It's a few new webs around the patio every morning, a web in the garage corner, or one showing up near the front door.

Spiders are usually there because they're finding plenty of insects to feed on and quiet places where they won't be disturbed.

Once webs keep showing up in the same spots, it's a good sign they're getting comfortable around the property.

I recently handled a spider prevention job here in Surprise that started exactly that way.

I wrote up what we found during the inspection in this month's journal entry.

More west Nile cases in az then any other state. We offer mosquito treatments!

At least 5 people have died, and 61 have been infected with West Nile virus in Arizona this year, according to CDC data. That is more cases than any other state in the country.

I really appreciated this review from Cheri D. Drake here in the Surprise and West Valley area:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“I love Deal Pest Control. They are very professional but with a great personality. The technicians are knowledgeable and easy to deal with. This our second time together, I recently moved and I was to bring Deal Pest Control with me.”

That kind of trust means a lot.

When someone moves and still wants to bring us with them, that tells me we’re doing things the right way.

With rodents, mosquitoes, scorpions, or any pest issue, homeowners should feel like they’re getting clear answers, honest service, and people who actually care about protecting the home.

Thanks again to Cheri for trusting Deal Pest Control again.

When I’m dealing with a rodent problem, I’m not just looking for the activity someone noticed.

I’m trying to figure out how they got in.

Around Surprise and the West Valley, I usually start by checking the exterior, roofline, garage areas, vents, utility lines, and any gaps that may have opened up over time.

Then I look at what might be helping them stay there — food, water, shade, clutter, or vegetation close to the home.

That part matters.

If the entry points stay open, the problem can come back even after the current activity is handled.

The best results usually come from doing both: treating the activity and helping the homeowner remove the conditions that brought rodents in.

Before you call anyone for rodents, take a slow walk around your home.

I always tell homeowners to look around utility lines, vents, rooflines, garage doors, and any small gaps along the outside of the house.

Rodents don’t need much room to get in.

Then check the garage and storage areas. Pet food, bird seed, and anything stored in open bags should be moved into sealed containers if possible.

Clutter matters too. Rodents like quiet places where they can hide without being bothered.

One other thing I look at a lot around Surprise and the West Valley is vegetation touching the house. If plants are right up against the home, they can give rodents a covered path to move around.

I shared more from a recent rodent job in this month’s journal.

I get more rodent calls around Surprise and the West Valley in July than people usually expect.

Most homeowners don’t see a rat or mouse right away. They hear scratching in the attic, find droppings in the garage, or notice something has been getting into storage.

During the summer, rodents are looking for the same things most pests are looking for — shade, water, food, and a place to hide.

Once they find a way inside, the problem can grow pretty quickly.

The part people don’t always realize is that rodents usually don’t stay in one spot.

They move around looking for nesting areas, food sources, and quiet places where they won’t be disturbed.

I handled a recent rodent prevention job here in Surprise that started with a few small signs just like that..
