Update: Oxpen Rd is back open for normal use! Thank you all for your patience and understanding! Brunswick Electric is still on the scene and will be for a little while.

Last evening, Civietown Fire and Rescue responded to a motor vehicle accident with a reported ejection on Royal Oak Rd. Thankfully the driver had not been ejected and managed to exit the vehicle himself after the collision. We’re really happy to report that the driver and passenger escaped with only minor injuries 🙏. It was reported that speed was not a factor in this accident which brings us to our next point:

During long periods of dry weather or drought conditions like we’re dealing with now, it’s inevitable that oil and fuel will accumulate on the roadway and become very slick after a rain. Keep this in mind while commuting and consider reducing your speed even more than usual on wet roads. We’re so very thankful to be able to report minor injuries as opposed to what this could have been.

Edit: we’ve just been informed that we were misinformed on injury status initially. There have been some injuries reported, however for privacy reasons we cannot disclose what those injuries are. Our continued prayers go out to the patient, and his family who we know are worried about him. We apologize for the misinformation.

Civietown Engine 5 on the scene of an involved single wide mobile home due to the woods fire in Shallotte earlier today.

Fire crews tended to a trailer on Bricklanding Road that appeared to have fire under it as part of the Brunswick County wildfire on July 11, 2026. See link below ⬇️
