All I keep hearing is that Jersey tomatoes are at their best right now.

And all I keep thinking about is this heirloom tomato and burrata salad from Foodies.

Labor Day weekend, peak Jersey tomatoes, burrata, basil…this is why we’re called the Garden State.

Pretty sure everyone needs this on the table this weekend.

Labor Day weekend. The long weekend many consider the unofficial end of summer.

Locals know better.

This is when LBI starts to exhale a little. The water is warm, the restaurants are still going, the music is still playing, and September is waiting on the other side.

For some, it’s the last big weekend of summer. For us, it kind of feels like the good part is just getting started.

Going back to school before Labor Day feels a little illegal, but here we are.

Wishing all the kids heading back today a fantastic good school year. May you survive the early alarms, long days, and somehow make it through without needing 100 snacks before noon.

And to the parents, wishing you an easy morning, no missing shoes, no forgotten Chromebooks, and maybe even a hot cup of coffee.

If you’re sending your baby off to kindergarten today, I feel you.

If you’re watching your kid walk into senior year and wondering how on earth you got here already, I feel that too.

And to the teachers, good luck. You deserve more credit, more support, and probably more coffee (wine) than anyone.

Only 282 days until the last day of school. But who’s counting?

I hate saying “end of summer” as much as anyone, but if it comes with a good party in Surf City, I guess I can make an exception.

Tonight’s Sunny Surf City’s END OF SUMMER PARTY and, I’m not saying it’s where the cool kids go, but I go there… and honestly, that says enough.

Doors open at 7:30 with behind the bar, a comedy opener, live music all night and basically everyone invited. Bring the kids. Bring granny. Just bring your ID if you plan on drinking because they’re carding.

September 1st. Surf City. One more really good excuse to pretend summer isn’t going anywhere just yet.

Due to schools beginning before Labor Day and a shortage of lifeguards, the following beaches will be temporarily closed from September 1–4, 2026.

Tuesday, September 1
26th Street Beach will be temporarily closed.
The Bay Beach will be guarded from 1:30 PM–6:00 PM.

Wednesday, September 2
23rd Street and 26th Street Beaches will be temporarily closed.
The Bay Beach will be guarded from 1:30 PM–6:00 PM.

Thursday, September 3
11th Street, 23rd Street, and 26th Street Beaches will be temporarily closed.

The Bay Beach will be guarded from 1:30 PM–6:00 PM.
Friday, September 4
11th Street, 23rd Street, and 26th Street Beaches will be temporarily closed.

As a reminder, 3rd Street Beach (3rd–5th Streets) and 30th Street Beach (27th–31st Streets) will remain closed for the remainder of the season.

You never really know who’s going to decide they need one more LBI weekend.

The kids come back. Friends stop by. Someone stays an extra night. Suddenly every bed is taken and you’re wondering where all the pillows went.
