This is soooo funny. Ever since I posted an email about the twin Thailand elephants yesterday, I have been inundated with messages and pictures of the King's pink elephants. There is a statue by the palace of (3) 3-headed pink elephants., that was created to honor the King's birthday in 2005. (I'm not sure of the exact date, tho)
- As a note: the name for our game's 3 & 4 handed game, is Royale Siamese........who knew.......

I received an email yesterday, regarding Siamese Mah jongg, from Thai Americans:

Dear Gladys Grad:

We are 4 Thai Americans living in Los Angelese, of 4 ages
grandmother Amara, daughter Bonnie, and grandchildren Shelby and Mark.
We play Thai mahjong in our club and at home and sometimes in restaurants and parties.

In June, a mother elephant in Thailand gave birth to boy and girl twins. Buddhist monks blessed the twin babies a week after they were born.

We think that maybe you should make a majong set showing the twin Thai elephants that are very much loved in Thailand. We have also played royal Siam majong with the 4 of us, but we play with 16 tiles for hands. We do not feel offense for the name of Siam twins.

NOTES ABOUT THE "ATOMIC CAT" HAND

1) You MUST start with 13 tiles (just like you would in a standard NMJL games)....and wait to pick or claim your 14th tile.
2) "Atomic" is an official hand on the Siamese Card...so you don't have to worry about various house rules gumming up the works.
3) You must declare "Atomic" immediately after the deal. It will be on your first rack, closest to the center of the table.
4) You can only use Jokers and Flowers for the 2nd hand. And you CAN'T move tiles back and forth between racks.....unless you go OFF atomic.
5) We don't want to make it tooooo easy when you have 14 tiles for Atomic, do we....?
