We’re keeping the vintage streak alive 🔧✨

On the bench this week: a beautifully built Pioneer Electronics (North America) SX-828 Stereo Receiver — a standout from Pioneer’s silver-face era.

This one came in tired but complete, so we gave it the attention it earned:

✔️ Power supply service and reliability updates
✔️ Replacement of aging electrolytics where needed
✔️ Thorough cleaning of controls, switches, and selector paths
✔️ Bias and DC offset dialed in to spec
✔️ Inspection of amplifier, tuner, and protection circuits
✔️ Careful cosmetic cleanup while preserving original character

The SX-828 is known for its smooth, full-bodied sound with plenty of headroom — rated around 50+ watts per channel. It’s a great example of when build quality and musicality went hand in hand.

There’s something satisfying about bringing a piece like this back to proper working order—and hearing it perform the way it was meant to again. 🎶

This week on the bench: a legendary Pioneer Electronics (North America) SX-1050 — one of the heavy hitters of the silver-face era.

This unit came in needing a full service, so we went through it top to bottom:
✔️ Full power supply, regulator, and protection circuit rebuild
✔️ New relay and filter capacitors
✔️ Complete recap of amp, phono, regulator, and input boards
✔️ Phono board rebuild
✔️ Repair and deep cleaning of all switches and controls
✔️ Bias/DC offset adjustment and full performance testing

The SX-1050 is known for its massive build and effortless power — rated at around 120 watts per channel, with the kind of headroom and warmth that made Pioneer a household name in hi-fi.

There’s nothing quite like bringing one of these back to life and hearing it perform the way it was meant to. 🎶

This week on the bench: a classic Marantz 2250B — one of the most loved receivers of the silver-face era.

This unit came in showing its age, so we gave it the full attention it deserved:

Just Completed: Full Refurb – Marantz Official 2215B

There’s a reason the Marantz 22xx series has become one of the most sought-after vintage receivers on the market — and the 2215B is one of the sweetest sounding of the lineup.

Originally produced 1977–1978, the 2215B represents the late-70s golden era of Marantz design: warm analog tone, champagne faceplate, and that unmistakable blue dial glow.

• Power Output: 15 watts per channel (8Ω)
• Total Harmonic Distortion: 0.3%
• Frequency Response: 20Hz – 20kHz
• Phono Input: Moving Magnet (excellent for vinyl setups)
• Inputs: Phono, Aux, Tape
• Weight: ~17 lbs of classic analog goodness

Don’t let the 15 watts fool you — these receivers are known for sounding much bigger than their rating, especially with efficient speakers.

Vintage Marantz Official magic, restored. ✨ We just finished a full rebuild on this Marantz Model 1150:

✔ Regulator board rebuilt & recapped
✔ Amp board rebuilt
✔ Protection board rebuilt
✔ Relay cleaned
✔ All switches and controls repaired & cleaned

Ahhhh … the legendary Marantz Official 2325. A true icon from the golden era of home audio—beautifully built, timeless in design, and delivering a powerful 125 watts per channel into 8 ohms.
