🎃 Before your little ghosts and goblins head out, keep these trick-or-treat safety tips in mind:
🔦 See and be seen. Bring a flashlight, add reflective tape to costumes and candy bags, and choose light-colored clothing. Use face makeup instead of masks that block vision.
👻 Choose costumes carefully. Look for flame-resistant materials and make sure everyone can walk comfortably.
👨👧 Make a plan. A responsible adult should accompany young children. For older kids, agree on a route and when to be home.
🚶 Walk safely. Walk instead of running. Use sidewalks or, where there are none, walk along the road’s edge facing traffic. Look both ways and cross at corners, never between parked cars. Avoid shortcuts through yards and alleys.
🏠 Stay at the doorstep. Visit homes with porch lights on, accept treats outside and never enter a home. Be cautious around unfamiliar animals.
🍬 Check before snacking. Have an adult inspect treats and remove unwrapped candy, damaged packages and choking hazards.
Welcoming trick-or-treaters? Keep walkways well lit and clear of leaves, decorations and other tripping hazards. Driving? Slow down and watch carefully for children.
Have a safe and happy Halloween from EMC Security! 🧡
