Hellooooo Everybody!
If you’re into babble, head on over to the IG TV tab to see me live talk this post, but...here’s the written version:
As we all navigate the effects of covid, and I navigate some personal ones, things have begun to look different, and in a lot of ways, more clear.
I began selling plants in conjunction with vintage about 4 years ago and it challenged me and fulfilled me in lots of ways - and if nothing else, it has taught me to listen to myself, my gut, and my heart. With those lessons, and with the distractions of the social world basically removed, I found my heart in making things with my hands. I found part of myself that I’d lost in little bits along the way, and parts of me that I’ve never before had. As I go back to work, and my work hours increase past what I was working pre-quarantine, I found that I wasn’t able to give Oracle my all. With that being said, I’ve chosen to focus my passion and what time I have into .hollow.hills. I owe it to myself to put everything I have into something, and I owe it to you all to do the same, so with that being said, I’m retiring Oracle as a business, although I’ll probably post some plant photos here and there, because who doesn’t love plant photos?!
Thank you so damn much for all your support for ALL the pop ups I’ve pushed for the past few years (so many. So, so many!) , it was a damn fun time, and I truly appreciate you hanging with me along the way. Thank you to the local spots that allowed me to pop up and take your spot over, I’ll really miss that!
I’ll want to give a shout out to some planty friends who are doing a damn fine job, and who can fill the plant void when you’re in need. Please kindly support:

and so many more.
Thanks again for everything, and if you feel so inclined, send your support my way to .hollow.hills and grow towards the light 🤙🏻

Hey, everyone!
I’ve been pretty much absent recently trying to figure this whole thing out. I’m unable to get plants from my regular supplier and it didn’t feel responsible to drive to get more from out of state. I let myself go down a bit of a spiral, feeling like my hard work from the past 3 years and dreams had been crushed a bit...then ya know, you pick yourself up and you move forward. I’ve been working some other suppliers and hope to have a solution within the next few days or weeks.
I want to thank you all, especially those of you who have reached out asking to buy plants during this time! I really appreciate your unwavering support, it truly doesn’t go unnoticed.
I have some really great plant babes, including this giant Golden Pothos available on the website, and I’m also offering curbside delivery to Asheville, Swannanoa, and Black Mountain for anything purchased on their site.
If you’ve been wanting some plants, please go check the plant babies on their site as well as all the beautiful goods from Atomic and 40+ local vendors. Atomic has been working tirelessly to restructure their business to support their vendors and offer shipping.
Thank you all again, and hope to see you bigger and brighter in the other side

Staying at home isn’t too bad when the plants are plentiful.
I absolutely love Sansevieria. If I could pick one plant over the rest, it would be them.
I have lots of varieties of Sans (Mother In Law’s Tongue, Snake Plant) ranging from Bantels, Silver Siam, Cylindrica, Moonshine, and so on, and I love them all for a multitude of reasons. Easy, showy, reminiscent of the 70’s...which is always good in my book.
If you’re looking for an easy plant, this is your babe.

Now’s the time to lean in.
Nurture. Self Care. Introvert.
I’m one of those conflicted introverted-extroverts, so the intro part of me is loving the calm, quiet, reflective time while the extro part of me is really needing some glasses of wine with friends somewhere in public. With Pasta. And laughter.
As the days get longer and the sun gets closer (kinda sorta how that works, you get it) I begin to start watering my plants a bit more, shuffling them around the house to catch the spring light, plucking off some of winter’s casualties from each plant, and assessing what needs to be replanted and fertilized soon, what needs different light or new soil. Letting the introvert part of myself muse over the plants, attend to them, care for them - all of which caring for myself is a side effect of. Sometimes routine and nurturing can be the medicine that heals and helps focus your energies. Take care of them, take care of you.
Also, let the extrovert part of yourself have a little too much coffee (or your bev of choice) and some conversations with your plants and your animals (cats over here), because that side needs some love too.
Hopefully you all have some beauties to take care of at home, or some hobbies and crafts - something productive to ease the mind while also challenging it. Catch up on your to-do list, paint a wall, shine your leaves, learn the care routine for that plant you bought on a whim, read a book, whatever.
I don’t know what this summer holds for me and The Oracle or .hollow.hills - I’d begun to plan some events, make plans, etc but now all of that is on hold until further notice. Once it feels responsibile to go out and source plants again, I’ll restock Atomic, until then - I’ll just be doing the best that I can. Be well and see you all on the other side where hugging and laughing over a negroni isn’t just a thing of the past.

The world feels so incredibly out of whack. So many of us are grappling with the loss of income and the fear of what’s the come. Sometimes I wish it was as a simple as “when it droops , water it” like this fatsia japonica. It needs something, it tells you, you do it, it’s fine. If it were only that simple.
Most businesses are closing their doors and reinventing a business model that’s been in place for years overnight, like dine-in restaurants becoming pick-up joints or breweries becoming shipping ports - how do we all make it work when everything changes seemingly overnight?
You droop, then you stand strong.
Sending all my love to the other small businesses out there who are trying to figure out how to make it work, to take care of their staff, and to reopen their doors once this has all passed, thinking about my fellow tipped and service based employees who if there isn’t business, there isn’t money. And sending some real big thank yous the medical community who is in the middle of this insanity.
For now, I’m unable to source more plants - but you can holler at to make an appointment to pick up something you like from one of their 40+ vendors. Supporting small is more important now than it ever was. Amazon will survive, Target will be just damn fine, but will your favorite neighborhood bar? Your morning routine coffee shop? Reach out and buy a gift card or an online purchase if you’re able, but we all know that this is affecting you too...so, keep on keepin on and let’s all promise to do the best for ourselves, our neighbors, and the little shop down the street. The effects of this will last far longer than the virus itself, learning the lessons of empathy and support will only make the future brighter.
Cheers to all of you. Wash your hands, drink some water, and act in kindness.
