Cost of Employer-Provided Health Coverage Passes $20,000 a Year.
In 2019, the average cost of an employer-provided Health Plan surpassed $20,000 per family. That number is up from just over $5,000 per family in the year 2000. During this period of time, the cost increases of Health Insurance has outpaced annual inflation by over 230%.
Also up is the average deductible for single coverage, which has now risen to $1,655. The rate of growth in Health Insurance costs, including those borne by employees, continued to outpace rises in inflation and wages, with workers bearing the burden, despite a strong economy and low unemployment rate.
