finally got to label the new Monadnock Conservancny headquarters on Ashuelot Street just in time for the open house today. We were really happy with the way it turned out. We don't generally use clear finishes on wood for exterior signs because of maintenance issues but they insisted on a clear finish on a native local wood species. We chose rock maple and included a roof to the structure to extend the life of the sign and to tie it in with the building. The building is sided with slate and so we used the same slate for the roof of the sign. Carving the maple went great with the help of a brand new sharp cutter on the CNC router. Thanks go to Mary for all the help with finishing the sign and installing it.
