Iron Dog Enterprises WWII German Helmet Restoration Bill Maertz, owner of IRON DOG ENTERPRISES, performs museum quality restorations on WWII GERMAN HELMETS. Others require more work.

Bill uses only 100% ORIGINAL WWII era GERMAN parts in his restoration work. In the past 42 years, he has performed over 43,000 restorations for collectors, dealers, re-enactment groups, museums, TV and movie production world wide. Now, some of these restorations are as simple as replacing a missing slotted washer or tightening a split rivet, to make it perfectly straight again, and then having wha

t looks like only one "original" bend to it to make it tight fitting as it left the factory. Bill only uses ORIGINAL WWII German made decals, liners, straps, and all other related parts from my inventory. He mixes the lacquer based paints to the original German formulas, using the same pigments and materials as the Germans did. All paints are baked on as per the originals. All aging is 100% natural and done to exactly match the undamaged areas on the helmet shell. As of this writing in 2017, Bill has NEVER had a DISSATISFIED customer.

IRON DOG ENTERPRISES: M-42 SINGE DECAL WAFFEN-SS SNOW CAMO HELMET. Here is an example of a snow camoed helmet that had the SS RUNIC decal whitewashed around. Helmets were whitewashed in the winter fighting so they would blend in better with the snow. Whitewash was used so it could be washed-off with water in the spring. Note the rust that has formed all the way around the decal. That's where the brush strokes were the thickest as they painted around the decal. Whitewash ATTRACTS MOISTURE, so seeing the extra rust around the decal is a good way of telling if the camo is REAL!

You can see the quick up and down brush strokes that were used to apply the whitewash to the helmet. See the rust around the rear split rivet head? That's where extra whitewash was left and attracted more moisture to that area.
