We enjoyed yesterday’s grand opening of the INSPYRE Innovation Hub by CenterState (formerly The Tech Garden). Thanks to the visionary leadership and outstanding ex*****on of all involved, we now have a striking tech hub and innovation center poised to amplify ingenuity, entrepreneurship, and regional prosperity.

Some of our favorite architectural features of the 90,000-square-foot project include:
• An undulating façade that enlivens the streetscape, improves pedestrian flow, and establishes a strong sense of place
• An impressive media wall to showcase the facility, its occupants, and events
• A 5,000-square-foot roof terrace with a launch and test drone platform for companies advancing uncrewed aerial systems

We’re also excited about the additional tenant space, state-of-the-art conference center, and multiple lounge/collaboration areas – including outdoor spaces that offer inspiring perspectives of the surrounding city.

As we soaked in yesterday’s celebration, we felt proud and grateful for our role in this project alongside CenterState CEO, EwingCole and Hueber-Breuer Construction. Now the community can focus on the hub’s impact – we can’t wait for the bold ideas, new ventures, and positive change this space inspires.

“Incremental progress builds a renaissance.” That was a top takeaway from this morning’s 2025 Fall Progress Breakfast, hosted by Downtown Syracuse.

A restored hotel. A highway coming down. A new school downtown. These seemingly small changes are leading to a new and exciting era in Syracuse.

We’re proud to be a part of it. We appreciate Katrina Tulloch's challenge to ask: “What if? What if downtown extended from Tipp Hill to Westcott, and to Onondaga Lake?”

As architects, engineers, and landscape architects, we will continue to imagine how we can contribute to a more vibrant Syracuse – and then take action. Stay tuned!

From the air, the geometry of the Hanover Square Fountain is starting to reveal itself, with all resilient cladding by The Effect Group now in place. With the major structural work behind them, the construction team is moving full speed ahead. Paving, planting, and furnishings are on the way – and soon, the square will be a perfect spot to enjoy a peaceful lunch or catch up with a friend. QPK Design is proud to lead the team on this local renovation for the City of Syracuse.

QPK Design is excited to welcome Isabelle Popoff to our team! Isabelle brings an MBA from Goldey-Beacom College, a Bachelor of Architecture from Alfred State College, and valuable hands-on experience in interior design and architecture through multiple internships. She’s quickly making her mark at QPK, and we can’t wait to see her creativity and talent shape our future work.

It’s Day 1 of The Great New York State Fair and we’re excited to kick things off, right in our own backyard. At QPK Design, we’re proud to have played a key role in bringing the Exposition Center to life on a fast-track schedule in 2018. Years later, it’s still a thrill to see the building lit up at night, doing exactly what it was designed to do: bring people together.

This year, don’t miss the “Ice Age Experience,” a new exhibit featuring life-sized animatronic creatures inside the Expo Center. And as always, keep an eye out for upcoming events there as we head into fall and winter.

Some of the QPK Design team took a short walk down the street to visit our neighbors at the Landmark Theatre. We were given a tour by Mike Intaglietta, Executive Director, and Andy Breuer of Hueber-Breuer Construction, Co-Chair of the Centennial Committee, and we saw firsthand the careful work underway this summer as part of the ongoing restoration. From removing soot from the alcoves to reveal their original detail, to repainting intricate ceiling patterns by hand, the team is uncovering and restoring the theatre’s historic detail ahead of its 100th year in 2028. We’re glad to share our neighborhood with a venue that has long played a role in Syracuse’s creative identity.

Please join us in thanking our summer intern, Isabella Garzon! Isabella joined us in June and has been involved in a variety of projects across the firm. From supporting the team with design, renderings, and presentation sheets, to assisting with material boards and interior finish selections, she's been gaining hands-on experience in many areas of the firm. She's also had the opportunity to visit a local job site and see the design process come to life. A future graduate of Syracuse Architecture, we're excited to be part of Isabella's journey and look forward to her remaining time with us.
