An incredible event! “In the Footsteps of Martin: A Conference for Men” was presented by Sean McLeod, Reaching for Higher Ground Consulting, hosted by Gregorio Jimenez, the Near Westside Initiative, and our many Partners including Good Life Foundation and PeaceArt International out of Rochester NY. The event was held at the Salt Space Theater in Syracuse,NY. The conference was an incredible series of workshops throughout the day! The conversations topics ranged from “Masculinity” and “Race”, with Sessions on “The Art of Important: How to See, Stay Connected, and Grow from Resource Friendships”, “Finding Your Voice, in Words”, and “Men Learning To Love: Women, Friends, Family, and Yourself”. The conference was for men, but open to everyone! Men and women attended, learned, cried, laughed, and grew together. A huge thank you to Sean McLeod, and to everyone who came out throughout the entire day long conference!! @ SALTspace

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Men’s Conference, “In the Footsteps of Martin: A Conference for Men”! We started the weekend at The New York State Equal Rights Heritage Center with a multi-generational panel discussion called “In the Footsteps of Martin: A Conversation with African American Males”. Thank you to Rob Otterstatter and Octane Social House for the incredible coffee and delightful healthy snacks. Huge shout out to General Manager Courtney Rae Kasper and BID Executive Director Stephanie Devito for partnering with us on this event and making it all happen! The greatest thanks has to go out to our “Men of Color” Cedric T. Bolton, Hasan Stephens, Ray Richardson, Dr. Emad Rahim, and Gregorio Jimenez who contributed their insightful, funny, and sometimes painful personal stories. They shared their souls and for that we are deeply thankful. Lastly thank you to the creative heart and mind of Sean McLeod for dreaming up and designing the entire conference and its content. He would undoubtedly share and say it was all the partners. However if not for Sean we would not have had such a conference. So thank you all!
