Today, the Fairmount Fire Department joins our community in honoring and remembering the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

Memorial Day is a time to reflect on the courage, dedication, and selflessness of those who gave their lives to protect the freedoms we enjoy each day. We remember not only their service, but the families, friends, and fellow service members who carry their memory forward.

As we gather with family and friends this holiday, we encourage everyone to take a moment to remember the true meaning of Memorial Day and honor those who never made it home.

From all of us at the Fairmount Fire Department, we thank and remember our fallen heroes.

Fairmount Fire Department would like to congratulate bunk-ins Adam Renihan, Kyle Santi, and Hunter Doxtater on their graduation from Onondaga Community College with Associate Degrees in Fire Protection Technology.

Adam came to Fairmount from New Hamburg Fire Department in Dutchess County, Kyle from Port Dickinson Fire Department in Broome County, and Hunter from Carthage Fire Department in Jefferson County.

During their time as bunk-ins, all three made valuable contributions to the department and the Camillus community while gaining hands-on experience in the fire service. We are proud to announce that Adam, Kyle, and Hunter have chosen to continue their service with Fairmount Fire Department as full members as they pursue their careers.

Thank you for your dedication, hard work, and commitment during your time as bunk-ins, and congratulations on becoming full members of the Fairmount Fire Department. We look forward to your continued service to our department and community.

This morning, Fairmount Fire Department crews participated in a Mock DWI Vehicle Collision at West Genesee High School. This program is conducted prior to the Senior Ball to emphasize the importance of driving sober and to demonstrate the serious consequences that can result from poor decisions behind the wheel.

Fairmount firefighters worked alongside the Camillus Police Department, WAVES Ambulance, Buranich Funeral Home, Meyers Collision, Upstate Trauma, the Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office, the Medical Examiner’s Office, and West Genesee High School students to help bring this important and impactful demonstration to life.

A big thank you to all of the community organizations and agencies that participated in and helped coordinate this important program aimed at promoting safe choices and preventing impaired driving.
