Meet Akeem McKenzie, Arcovo's newest AI Solutions Engineer.

Building AI employees that live inside a client's business means writing code that holds up on real data and real workflows, with real consequences when something breaks. Akeem has spent his career on both sides of that, building the systems and then trying to break them.

He's built production systems in security and AI, the kind that get used every day and can't afford to fail. Along the way he's published open-source tools that other engineers use to stress-test AI applications, shipped his own SaaS products, and put an app on the App Store. He just likes building things, and it shows.

That's what our clients get: an engineer who ships, and who knows what can go wrong before it does.

The system that runs your whole company was built before anyone said "API" out loud.

We meet this business all the time. A distributor, a contractor, a manufacturer. Twenty years of orders, inventory and customer history living in software the vendor stopped improving long ago, and the answer to "can we connect to it?" is a polite no.

So the owner assumes AI is for other companies, the ones with modern systems.

It isn't, it just changes the plumbing.

Here's the build we reach for. Almost any system, even the old ones, can send a report on a schedule. So we have it email a CSV every night. The file lands in storage. Every morning an AI employee reads yesterday's snapshot and does the bulk of the job from that... the order review, the exception list, the report that used to eat someone's morning.

The live connection, if there is one at all, gets saved for the handful of moments that truly need this-minute answers. Stock on hand. A price for this customer, right now. That's usually the whole list.

Yesterday's data, reliably, turns out to be enough for most of the work.

If you're sitting on old software and wondering whether any of this applies to you, walk through three questions with your team.

Which parts of the job actually need up-to-the-minute data? Shorter list than you'd think.

What can the old system already export on a schedule? Ask the person who runs it, not the vendor's sales line.

How fresh is fresh enough for each task? For a lot of daily work, yesterday is fine.

We've built on nightly exports plenty of times and the work holds up. Walk before you run applies to data plumbing too.

Your systems don't have to be modern to put AI employees to work. They just have to be understood.

The AI adoption gap between mid-size businesses and small ones isn't closing. It's widening.

New Census Bureau data puts businesses with 100 to 249 employees at roughly 32% AI use. Businesses under 20 employees are still below 20%. That distance grew between December and May.

If your company sits in that middle band, AI isn't early adopter territory anymore. It's already normal for businesses your size.

But look at the other side of that same number: at 32%, most of the mid-market still hasn't started. The room to be ahead of your market, not just caught up to it, is still wide open.

scDataCom is a 40-person government security integrator. Ask how big the team really is, though, and the answer is 47.

Seven of their team members are AI employees. One of them, Samantha, scrubs a public database for opportunities. She's reviewed 3,200 so far. That job used to be Alaina's evenings, eyeballing listings during Great British Bake Off.

Now it's three and a half hours back in a sales exec's day, spent finding the next customer instead.

We're hiring two more people to join our Arcovo team, and we're always happy to hear from talented people who want to build something.

Arcovo builds AI employees that take on the repetitive work inside a business, and that is exactly why the people on our team matter so much. They spend their days on the work that needs human judgment and a real relationship with a client. We're onboarding new companies every week right now, and the team has to grow with it.

AI Solutions Engineer. This is a builder role. Our AI Solutions team hands you a completed blueprint and you turn it into a production-ready AI employee that a client runs their business on. No discovery calls, no ticket queue, just focused build time. A few years of software experience plus some hands-on automation work is what we're looking for.

AI Solutions Manager. A technical PM who owns client projects from signed contract to go-live. You'd map the workflows, run the sprints, keep scope and schedules honest, and translate between engineers and business owners. The shape of your experience matters more than the number of years.

Both roles are remote, with optional in-person work at our Syracuse office.

Onboarding a new client at Brandmint used to be a four to six week job. Now it takes 40 minutes.

Brandmint is a marketing agency. Every time someone signed, their team set up project boards, arranged tool access, and worked through all the internal setup and communication that a new client brings.

The AI employees we built handle that work now. The time it gives back goes to client relationships, long term planning, and the work that only people can do.

Melanie Sikma's team can take on more clients now without stretching the people they have and without putting quality of service at risk. Same team, more clients, and the tedious part is handled.
