Here’s a little Sprague story we think is worth remembering. 🐜

A customer received a pest control citation during an audit and was prepared to spend $15,000 on additional traps to correct it.

But our Route Manager in Pasco paused and asked a simple question:
“Do they actually need all of these?”

They trusted their expertise, questioned the citation, and encouraged the customer to get clarification. They were right and the citation was incorrect, saving the customer an unnecessary expense.

Nearly 100 years later, we’re still proud to do what’s right, even when it means walking away from a sale.

The Road to Colorado 🗺️

How did Sprague find its way to Colorado?

It started with relationships, an opportunity, and a team ready to build something new.

In 2011, Ross Treleven headed to Denver to help establish Sprague’s foothold in the Centennial State. Along the way, a new team, new relationships, and plenty of hard work helped shape what Colorado would become for Sprague.

Denver was just the beginning of the Colorado story. 🐝

A little piece of Sprague history from Salt Lake City 📖

In 2000, Sprague expanded into Salt Lake City, opening our first established branch outside the Pacific Northwest. The branch continued to grow, including an acquisition in 2003.

Years later, the Salt Lake City team gave us another story worth remembering.

When one of the branch’s first pregnant Route Managers was preparing to continue working in the field, our technical team went into full white-coat mode. They reviewed product labels, regulations and safety protocols to make sure she and her baby were safe on the job.

Years later, that support came full circle.

When the same Route Manager was leading the branch, a coworker preparing for paternity leave was concerned about who would cover his accounts. She put his entire route on a whiteboard and asked the team to help.

Within minutes, every stop was covered. 🙌

Recent wildfires across the Spokane area burned more than 10,000 acres and destroyed more than 700 structures, leaving many families with very little.

Our Spokane team came together to collect gently used clothing to help neighbors who lost everything. The donations were delivered to local veterans at VFW 51 to be distributed to those impacted by the fires.

Sprague’s move into Eugene in 2000 marked an important step in the company’s growth.

With Oregon’s Willamette Valley recognized for its rich concentration of food, wine, and seed growers, Sprague saw increased business which was all part of the plan. What probably wasn’t on the plan was a lighthearted Ducks vs Huskies rivalry during the building negotiations.

With the owners proudly supporting Oregon and Larry and Alfie proudly supporting Washington, Larry made sure the final paperwork included one small nod to the Huskies: a signature page with purple ink.
