My Margot is a very special lady.
She turned 99 this month, and every time I spend time with her, I’m reminded of how much wisdom, resilience, and beauty our older adults carry.
Margot has lived an amazing life. She is brave, strong, committed to her health, and full of vitality. At 99, she has full mobility, follows a healthy diet, takes great care of herself, and has the most infectious laugh.
But what inspires me most is not just how well she is aging. It is the way she continues to teach, share, and remind me what a full life can look like.
I always tell her, “I want to be you when I grow up.”
Our older adults have lived through wins, losses, hard lessons, sacrifices, love, grief, change, and moments most of us can only imagine. Their stories matter. Their wisdom matters. They deserve to be heard.
Take a moment to sit with the seniors in your life. Ask questions. Listen closely. Let them share the lessons they earned through a lifetime of living.
Because one day, it will be our story too.
What wisdom have you learned from an older adult in your life?
