CU Strategic Planning

CU Strategic Planning Unlocking opportunities for credit unions to improve lives and change communities.

We specifically serve low income designated and CDFI certified credit unions or credit unions seeking to become certified. These credit unions have a mission to serve distressed communities, unbanked and underbanked populations, low and moderate income individuals and to contribute to an America where everyone has access to affordable capital credit and financial services.

Stronger communities start with stronger support systems. That’s why forward-thinking, mission-driven credit unions are pairing inclusive lending strategies with financial education and meaningful local partnerships.

When these efforts align, members don’t just access services — they experience transformation.

We help credit unions design that kind of impact, one member journey at a time.

Relevant products & services are not enough. Today’s mission-driven credit unions are choosing to become…

compelling

…. institutions members turn to because they feel known, respected, and supported.

That work shows up in how you lend, how you educate, and how you partner in the community.

CU Strategic Planning’s consulting and training programs help credit unions turn those values into measurable, lasting impact. Read more of our very own Joe Brancucci’s counsel: https://loom.ly/JliHhW4

Our recent LinkedIn poll mirrors what we’re hearing on the ground:
financial education is rising to the top of community impact priorities for 2026.

Our HERO program gives credit unions a practical way to meet that need by training staff to support members through real-life financial decisions with confidence and care.

Every credit union has a powerful, community-oriented story. Mission-driven institutions across the country are modernizing lending, expanding access and strengthening financial well-being in ways that matter to their members’ daily lives.

CU Strategic Planning supports credit unions at every stage of that journey.

From strategic lending consulting through CU Results to member-focused training in our HERO financial counseling program, we help teams build the capacity, confidence and clarity needed to move their mission forward.
Community development isn’t a designation; it’s a choice — and credit unions are choosing it every day.

Credit unions have always been about people — not profits. What we’re seeing with the rise of CDFI certification is not a new mission for credit unions. It’s a formal recognition of what credit unions have been doing for decades.

The CDFI Fund may be relatively new, but the spirit of community-driven finance is woven into the DNA of every credit union that has served working families, underserved neighborhoods, and small businesses.

Certifying as a CDFI can unlock grants, capacity-building support, and expanded impact. But credit unions don't need to be certified to be community development financial institutions; they just need to stay true to their mission.

At CU Strategic Planning, we help credit unions translate mission into impact and opportunity — with or without CDFI certification.
