Fern Hill Business District The Fern Hill area is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Tacoma with two of it's Churches built in t Prominent citizen George W. Mr.

Byrd was the first to build the town site of Fern Hill in October of 1888. Byrd was a generous man who donated two acres of land for a school, & in 1889 he donated more land for the community's first church, which still stands today! His legacy of pride in his community is honored today in the form of the Fern Hill Business District.
