To all the dads in the world, Happy Father's Day! Here is a poem Gabrielle wrote for her dad Gabe of Space Talk Gabe:

That’s My Dad: An Inspiration to All

There’s a man who always brings sunshine,
Warming the hearts of all he touches,
Bringing out the best in everyone,
Nurturing and caring with gentle nudges.

He inspires people to live their dreams,
Showing all they can overcome adversity.
He encourages everyone he meets
To live and love with passion and empathy.

He mentors people with disabilities,
Inspires a man who is blind to run a marathon,
Reaches out to the boy whose mom committed su***de,
And gives even the hopeless the strength to carry on.

People often call him an angel,
He elicits smiles from all who were sad;
This man who seems to walk on water,
I am so proud of him, for he’s my dad.

From the hugs he gives to children in South Africa;
To the joy he spreads from sea to shining sea,
My father knows no strangers;
Everyone loves him like family.

So many fond memories of being daddy’s little girl,
Space shuttle launches and time on the beach,
Turning wrenches, playing baseball, and travelling Europe,
With fun times came heartfelt lessons he’d teach.

In times of loss, he’d wipe my tears.
In times of trepidation, he’d encourage me to overcome fears.
The best times in my life also were shared with my father;
If I could hand select a dad, I’d choose no other.

My father taught me to be the best I can be.
He taught me to live life to its fullest and love unconditionally.
He inspired me to mentor and encourage others, and keep on teaching.
He encouraged me to reach for the stars, and keep on reaching.

The pride I feel for my dad is boundless.
When people say I’m like him, I beam.
I emulate his outlook on life in all that I do;

On this Memorial Day, we remember and honor the fallen and their family members. Thank you to all who serve or have served our country, and especially all who made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting our freedom. I also want to remember and honor veterans who die by su***de including my own family member John Sakmann who tragically took his life after suffering from PTSD for years. He was 38 years old and left behind a beautiful family including a wife and two young daughters. Finally, service also includes families, and growing up in a military family including my dad and brother, I know how challenging it is to have loved ones deployed, especially when they do not return.... Thank you for your service to our country.

I watched the flag pass by one day.
It fluttered in the breeze
A young marine saluted it, and then
He stood at ease.
I looked at him in uniform
So young, so tall, so proud
With hair cut square and eyes alert

This phenomenal group of professionals met for their first session of the 2026 Leadership Academy, and it was an excellent start.

They arrived ready to engage, reflect, and challenge themselves. The level of insight and openness in the room set the tone for what will be a meaningful experience over the remaining year.

Each person in this cohort should be applauded for their commitment to personal and professional growth. Choosing to invest in your development and in the people you lead requires intention and a willingness to step outside of what is comfortable.
