Last week I met a car enthusiast who wanted to see pics of my personal car. Not having any with me, I promised to post a few on the GRK page. I own a 1990 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur II, purchased in July of 2021. A low mileage car, it only had 4500 miles on it from new. It is my only car, and as such, now has nearly 18,000 on it.

1986 TVR 280i (USA-OH) - This customer bought new red leather seats for his TVR and hated the color. We had custom dye mixed at Duramend to a shade of red he likes and we're preparing to redye all the new leather. The seat covers were expertly installed by Ryan and Bob at BEST Auto-Boat Interiors. We have the seats now at GRK Rolls Royce Interiors, Ltd.

1972 Oldsmobile 442 Convertible (USA-OH) - This is one of those interesting projects I love to get. The car is being customized by Spotlight Customs, in Akron. I've been asked to help make some door panel inserts to accent the doors and rear side panels. First things first, pick out the veneer. The customer chose some veneer that has been dyed charcoal and gray. They want to see how the veneer will look with a finish. So I mounted the veneer, prepped and poured some epoxy on the samples to give an approximation of the final look.

1979 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith II - (USA-OH) - Now that the exhaust system is replaced, the car is at Foreign Car Specialties. Jake has removed all the door panels and other leather items for refinishing here at GRK Rolls Royce Interiors, Ltd.

I received new Zener diodes from a vendor in the UK, and have replaced the shorted diode. The fan speed module no longer has a dead short and is ready to install in the car again.

1979 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith II - (USA-OH) - This is an auction car (not mine) and initially seemed liked a good buy. The car was driven from Florida back to Ohio without incident. But since it has been back, it has presented one problem after another, mostly electrical.

The car is physically at Foreign Car Specialties, which is close by. I have been helping out by finding shops that can work on it and doing some electrical troubleshooting. It has recently had a new exhaust system from Albers installed at Mufflers For Less in Cleveland. They did a great job and are highly recommended.

My first job was to find the cause of the main Automatic AC fuse blowing. Turns out a Zener Diode in the Fan Speed and Control module was shorted. I found a source for the part and now we wait for the shipment.

1967 Silver Shadow Coupe - (USA-OH) - We have finally come up with a proper sequence of repairs on this car. The owner decided he wanted the car painted, after the headliner was installed. That halted all the interior work for now and the car was gutted in anticipation of the repaint. Electrical work will also be done prior to interior installation.

As for the new interior leather, he requested a color change. So after having all the covers made with Cognac hides, we're now redyeing everything in a custom lighter shade of brown. We call it "faded cognac". Even the edge binding on the carpet needs redyed.

I want to announce that Rachel Lenk, who worked at the GRK shop longer than any other helper, has returned to GRK after 8 years to help with the heavy workload. Rachel started when she was only 18 with no previous experience and became my most valuable asset. She will help out part time with the leather and woodwork, depending on her availability. Welcome back Rachel.

I helped my son-in-law remove and replace the running boards on his Jeep with tubular steps. Some rust on the old fasteners held us up, and all the new bolts, nuts, and threaded holes needed to be tapped out. But we were done within 2 1/2 hours, even with my 8 YO grandson's help.

1979 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith II (USA-OH) - This car was bought at auction in FL and driven back to Ohio. It looked like a pretty good car. But the exhaust system had been replaced, front to back, with a very loud custom system. Not very Rolls-like. I sourced a new RR exhaust from Albers Motorcars. Foreign Car Specialties, here in Tallmadge, OH, will be doing the swapout.
