FREE SNOW CONE!!!!

The first 50 that join in September will receive a coupon for a free snow cone from Bells Snow Cones. They can be used at the Teddy Bear Fest on October 10th.

Join Madison Parish 4-H to learn new skills, make friends, give back, and build confidence. We have lots of opportunities for hands on learning as well as new experiences.

We have club meetings in every school as well as art, sewing, cooking, shooting sports, livestock, plus more.

If you enjoy working with youth and would like to support our Shooting Sports program, please consider becoming a certified 4-H Shooting Sports coach. Coach certification training will be offered in Ouachita Parish on October 24, 2026.

🏹 Hunter Education Course
We will also offer a Hunter Education Course on September 28-30, 2026, for youth and adults ages 9 and older. This course is open to the public.

📞 To attend the Hunter Education Course, participants must register in advance through the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries website.

We're increasing our community service efforts this year, and our first project is a Clothing Drive benefiting The Mission.

👕 We are asking each member to donate 5 clothing items.

Donations are due by September 30 at the Madison Parish 4-H Office.

You may send clothing items to school in a grocery sack. Please be sure to label the sack with your name so you can receive credit toward the Beyond Ready Achievement Program.

🦌 Hunter Education Course

Anyone 9 years old or older is invited to participate in our Hunter Education Course:

✅ Registration is required to attend.

Important: Members planning to participate in Shooting Sports must complete Hunter Education certification. If you intend to participate in Shooting Sports this year, completing this course is required.

Madison Parish 4-H Has a new program this year, the
BEYOND READY ACHIEVEMENT PROGRAM
“Recognizing Leadership, Service, and Growth”

Madison Parish is launching the Beyond Ready Achievement Program for the 2026–2027 school year. This program will use a points system for 4‑H members who participate in events and activities from August 10, 2026, to April 15, 2027. To participate you must be enrolled by Oct. 15th. Below is an overview of how the points system will work:

Each member will receive points based on the events and activities they participate in throughout the year. The members with the highest point totals in each club will be recognized as the Beyond Ready MVPs (Members with a Vision and Purpose) for their club. These members will then be rewarded with a day trip, with the location to be determined.

How to Earn Points:

5 points – Club/Parish Level Events
(Entering contests, cookery events, attending meetings, project clubs such as cooking, sewing, or art, community service activities, etc.)

10 points – Regional Events
(Area cookery, Challenge Camp, district livestock show, regional shooting sports, Food Challenge, esports, etc.)

15 points – State Events
(State livestock show, workshops such as Eco Quest, Food and Fitness, Fashion and Beyond Tour, state shooting sports, etc.)

20 points – Record Book
Entry by April 15, 2027

There will also be a Club Award for the most outstanding club. This award will be based on a rubric. The outstanding club will receive a party, with the reward details to be determined.

This past week our 4-H agent attended the Louisiana Association of Extension 4-H Youth Development Professionals conference in Baton Rouge hosted by our Staff Office. Agents attended this conference to collaborate with other agents within the state and obtain knowledge to help with our local program.

Mrs. Jinks got the opportunity to present a poster on our hydroponics program she implemented at the high school clubs this past year. She enjoyed sharing this program and the versatility it gives for different ages and clubs.

She is refreshed and ready to get this year's programming started. She will start club meetings the first week of September.
