Do you (or your clients!) have zoning questions? Want to know what steps you need to take to change a property's zoning? Or, perhaps you are wondering what happens when a property is zoned one way, but its future land use is something else?

Eric Cotton with the City of Tampa, our December 19th guest speaker, will be here to answer all our questions so we're better educated and able to guide our clients -- what do the different zoning designations mean, how much does it cost to get zoning changed (and how long does the process take), and how can we use the Planning Information Map App to evaluate property sites? Eric will be here to answer these questions and more.

Property and mortgage fraud is the fastest growing white-collar crime in our country! The FBI says scammers file fake deeds, making it appear as if they own homes that are owned by someone else. The scammers then con people into giving them money to rent or buy those homes.

This week at our South Tampa pitch group meeting, we’ll hear directly from Hillsborough County Clerk of the Court & Comptroller Cindy Stuart about this growing crime and how you can protect yourself and your clients. Hillsborough County has a free Property Fraud Alert service to notify you any time a document is recorded in Hillsborough County using your name or your business’ name. Early notification about activity not initiated by you, can help stop criminals in their tracks.

Many of us have been asked questions about what this project entails and who it will serve. As educated and informed real estate professionals, we should have an understanding of the developments’ objectives and know where to direct local stakeholders and residents for more information.
