Many new entrepreneurs see an angel investor as the key to success. But the reality is often more complex. Many investors prioritize a founder's past success over the idea itself. Even if you secure funding, you'll likely trade a larger piece of equity than necessary, and may not get the hands-on support you expect.
A better strategy is to prove your concept first. Focus on building a strong foundation through sales, consumer reviews, and brand recognition. When your business has a proven track record, you'll find that investors start coming to you, putting you in a much stronger position to negotiate.
