Beginning January 26, 2026 access to Boyd Clocks will be by appointment only. Contact us at (813) 777-3437 to set up an appointment. Customers will be contacted as their clocks are finished. Regrettably we have reached a point where we simply have no more room to take in additional clocks for repair.

Boyd Clocks new store hours - 10 to 4 on Saturday and by appointment only during the week.

Boyd Clocks Horologist Takes First Prize at NAWCC National Convention

On Saturday, June 21, 2025 Boyd Clocks horologist Devin Webster made national news by winning first prize for his restoration of a 17th century lantern clock by Thomas Carter of Cricklade, England at the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors meeting in York, Pennsylvania.

Devin’s meticulous restoration of this beautiful timepiece was honored by the judges who clearly appreciated his attention to the most minute detail and thorough mechanical refurbishment of this unique historical piece. We congratulate Devin for a job well done and bringing credit to Boyd Clocks of Tampa. Well done, Devin!!!

A talk delivered by Prof. William Kearns of Boyd Clocks at the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors Midwinter Regional Meeting in St. Augustine on February 17, 2023. The restoration of Prof. Kearns' clock, created by Andries Vermeulen in Amsterdam c. 1720, was a magnum opus of his career involving reengineering many missing pieces and restoring complete functionality to a derelict machine of over 300 years. It was a true labor of love.

A talk delivered by Mr. David H. Boyd and Prof. William D. Kearns of Boyd Clocks on February 18th at the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors Midwinter Regional meeting in St. Augustine, Florida. The talk covers early man's efforts to measure time in terms of seasonal and astronomical variations, concluding with the development of the Antikythera Mechanism, an extraordinary celestial computer which is believed to have been constructed in the 2nd century BCE. The device is believed by some researchers to have been constructed by one of Archimedes' students. It correctly predicts the movement of the 5 planets known to the Greeks each day for 19 years and incorporates functions for replicating retrograde motion by each of those planets.

I want to say a huge THANK YOU! to my dear colleagues at Boyd Clocks for my terrific birthday celebration yesterday! Tom's jambalaya was incredible with those delicious Alabama brown shrimp. The tiramisu birthday cake sporting the traditional Boyd Clock's candle topped off a perfect celebration. I am looking forward to giving my new pool cue a thorough workout in the days ahead! Get ready Dave & Tom, I'm bringing it!
