🚨UPDATE!🚨
It’s been a while since our last post - life has definitely thrown us some curveballs over the past few months!
While we’ve had to slow our pace, we’re still collecting used beverage cans to turn recycling proceeds into donations for local non-profits.
Sadly, we’ve had to discontinue pickups from our Dunedin locations. The distance and small volume collected just didn’t make it financially sustainable - though we may revisit in the future.

On the bright side, we’re excited to share the following donations 💰
🐾 $200 to Community Pet Project
🤝 $125 to Good Neighbors

We’d love to welcome more people to join in our efforts! If you’re interested in helping collect or support the cause, please reach out - we’d love to chat. 🙌

♻️ Milestone Reached! ♻️
We’ve officially saved 10,000 used beverage cans from the landfill! 🚫🗑️
Instead of adding to the waste, these cans are on their way to becoming brand new ones — a big win for sustainability and circularity.

What 10,000 recycled cans mean:
⚡ 4,290 kWh of energy saved — enough to:
🏠 Power an average home for 3,950 hours
🧺 Run 690 loads of laundry
🚗 Avoid 976,000 grams of CO₂ emissions — equivalent to driving 2,450 miles in an average passenger vehicle

💲 And, $200 being donated to a local nonprofit

Every can counts — and this milestone is proof that small actions add up to big impact. Let’s keep it going! 💪🌱

Aloha, Dunedin! 🌺 We’re excited to share that The HONU is now a proud drop-off location for the Cans for Community initiative! 🌎✨

Bring your used beverage cans and drop them in our collection bin—conveniently located just outside the Tiki Bar entrance! (you should probably grab a bite to eat and a delicious rum cocktail, too)🍹🩵

Every can you recycle helps support local nonprofit organizations and keeps our environment clean.

We’re excited to share that HOB Brewing Company & Dunedin House of Beer have joined the Cans for Community initiative! 🌎✨

Now, every can of liquid refreshment that you enjoy at HOB gets a second life — recycled for a cause! Proceeds from recycling will go directly to support local Tampa Bay Area nonprofits. 🧡

Next time you visit, be sure to thank Kim, Andy, Rick, and the entire HOB team for their recycling & sustainability efforts — and don’t forget to drink up, drop your can in the recycling bin, and make a difference — one can at a time! 🍺♻️

Mar Bay Motel & Suites, located in Safety Harbor, is now a Cans for Community collection site! 🎉♻️

Guests can recycle their aluminum cans right on-site, turning their empties into funds for local charities while keeping cans out of landfills. A simple action, a huge impact! 🧡🌎🧡

Next time you finish a drink, drop your empty can in the bin and give back to our community! 🚮➡️♻️➡️💰

Every can they collect stays out of the landfill and helps support a local charity! 🧡🌱

🌟 We are incredibly grateful to Drop Dead Generous for their generosity!

A few weeks ago, we stumbled across their amazing initiative to spread kindness by giving $500 gifts to 1,000 people with ideas to spread kindness. We shared our vision for Cans for Community - a simple way to help others by recycling used beverage cans and donating the proceeds to local nonprofits in the Tampa Bay area.

Thanks to their kindness, we’re able to take the first steps in launching Cans for Community and covering some initial costs. This support means the world to us, and we can't wait to pay it forward! ♻️🧡

Trivia: 🎉🍺 Cheers to history! Did you know the first canned beer hit the market 90 years ago today?
On January 24, 1935, Krueger’s Cream Ale & Krueger’s Finest Beer were sold to the public in a can.
Needless to say, canned beer was a success and accepted by the beer drinking population!

Let's raise a glass (errr, I mean a CAN) to Krueger’s and canned beer! And, please don’t forget to save that can for Cans for Community so we can recycle it and donate the proceeds to local nonprofits! ♻️🍻
