Walmart is turning its stores into part of America’s EV charging infrastructure.
Walmart’s EV charging network is expanding rapidly—now with 838 charging ports across 100 stores, with another 100 sites under construction.
What makes this especially interesting is the scale and accessibility:
🔹 Around 90% of Americans live within 10 minutes of a Walmart store
🔹 Chargers are strategically located near major highways and communities
🔹 New 400 kW fast chargers are designed to make charging faster and more convenient
🔹 Walmart plans to expand to thousands of locations by 2030
This is more than an EV charging strategy. It shows how retail, energy, transportation, and infrastructure are increasingly becoming interconnected.
As EV adoption grows, charging infrastructure will need to become part of our everyday destinations—not something drivers have to go out of their way to find.
💡 The future of EV charging may not just be at gas stations—it could be where we already shop, work, and spend time.
What do you think? Could retailers like Walmart play a major role in accelerating EV adoption in the U.S.?
