Yesterday I stopped by the Hillsborough County Fire Rescue and dropped off some pizza for the crew.

No agenda. No coupon stapled to the box.

Just a thank you.

These guys and gals show up to the worst moments of people's lives.

House fires. Car accidents. Medical emergencies.

They don't get to pick their days.

They just show up.

Every single time.

We've been building our lives here in Tampa for a while now and this community has been good to us.

It felt like the right thing to do.

If you know someone at the Hillsborough County Fire Rescue tell them we said thank you.

They deserve to hear it more than they do.

Ask a kid what they want to be when they grow up and you’ll probably hear something like…

Astronaut. Firefighter. Baseball player…Maybe a cowboy if they’re cool.

I don’t think too many kids say, “I want to run a tree service company.”

And yet…here I am…having the time of my life.

I spend my days outside, working with my hands, meeting people in our community, and helping homeowners take care of their property.

Some jobs keep you behind a desk all day.

Mine lets me meet the people I’m helping and see the difference before I leave their house.

That’s one of my favorite parts of the work I do.

Tree work is hard.

It’s dangerous, dirty, heavy, and some days my back reminds me I’m not 22 anymore.

But it’s good honest work.

And I feel blessed I get to do it for people right here in Tampa.

So no…this probably wasn’t the dream job I pictured as a kid.

But it turned out to be a pretty great one.

And somehow I still probably forgot something in the truck.

That’s tree work.

Everybody sees the saw.

They don’t always see the setup.

Or the 14 trips back and forth because one guy said, “I think we need the other rope.”

But that’s part of doing the job right.

Bring the right equipment.

Take your time.

Protect the yard.

Leave the place cleaned up.

So if you ever see us hauling way too much stuff across a yard…

Just know we’re working hard…

Or we’re just getting our cardio in for the day.

Becky had a few trees that were starting to cause real problems.

Two pines.

Three smaller problem trees.

Roots getting too close to the foundation.

Branches hanging over the roof.

And insurance concerns that needed to be handled the right way.

So we came out, looked everything over, and got the job done.

The trees were removed.

The property was cleaned up.

And Becky was really happy with how everything turned out.

She told us the crew was professional, everything looked great, and after getting a few quotes, she felt confident choosing us because she knew she could trust us.

That means a lot.

Tree work can be a big decision, especially when the trees are close to your home.

You want the job done safely.

You want the property protected.

And you want to feel good about the people you hired.

That’s what we try to deliver on every job.

One of my favorite things about living around here is that people still wave.

At a stop sign.

From the truck.

Across the gas station parking lot.

It’s simple, but I like it.

A little wave or nod of the head still means something.

It means people notice each other.

People still take two seconds to be friendly.

And around here, acting like you didn’t see somebody is almost suspicious.

That’s one of the things I love about this community.

It still has that small-town feel.

So if you see me around town and I throw a hand up from the truck…

I’m just saying hey.

Or I’m 60% sure I know you.

Either way, we’re both committed now.

One of my favorite pieces of American history is something a lot of people have never heard of.

Before America was a country, there was an old elm tree in Boston.

It sat along one of the busiest roads into town.

In 1765, a group of regular people gathered under that tree to protest the newly imposed stamp tax they thought was unfair.

the tree became a gathering place for celebrations, speeches, and meetings

Before long, that old elm tree had a new name…

The Liberty Tree.

The tree is still remembered today.

But it was the ordinary people beneath it who changed history.

Blacksmiths.

Carpenters.

Farmers.

Merchants.

Just regular citizens.

People who worked with their hands, kept their word, and wanted to build something better for their kids and grandkids.

My point is...this weekend isn’t just about fireworks or a day off.

It’s about slowing down and making memories with the people who matter most.

It’s backyard laughs, sticky popsicle fingers, cannonballs into the pool, late-night conversations, and watching the kids’ faces light up under the fireworks.

These are the moments they’ll remember long after the weekend is over.

Here’s to quality time, grateful hearts, and soaking up every moment with family and friends.

Most people don't know why I started Q&M Tree and Lawn Service.
It wasn't because I wanted to own chainsaws or heavy equipment.
It was because I saw too many homeowners getting rushed through jobs that should've been done carefully.

Trees are heavy.

They grow over homes, fences, pools, and power lines.

One wrong cut can turn a simple project into thousands of dollars in damage.

So when we take on a job, we're never trying to see how fast we can get in and out.

We take the time to plan it.

We protect your property.

We clean up like we were never there.

And if I wouldn't do the work at my own house, I won't do it at yours.

That's why I started Q&M Tree and Lawn Service
Not to be the biggest company in Tampa.

Hey Tampa!
My name is Dario and I own Q&M Tree and Lawn Service right here in Tampa.

You've probably seen our trucks around town but I wanted to take a second and introduce myself, the actual person behind the business.

A few things about me that have nothing to do with trees.

I've been married to Sassy for 16 years. She actually knows how to do estimates and steps in wherever I need help. She's not just behind the scenes. She's in it with me.

We have two kids. A six year old daughter and an eleven year old son who plays soccer in a local league. When we're not working you'll find us on bike rides, at the park, or down at the river or the beach as a family.

I also play pickup basketball most mornings. Gotta stay moving somehow.

Here's the real story behind how this business started.
Ten years ago I was a claims adjuster.

I was bored out of my mind.

I talked it over with Sassy and decided to take a risk. I bought a stump grinder and started doing weekend jobs on the side just to see what would happen.

Our very first job actually came from Sassy. She saw a post on Craigslist and that one connection ended up being a massive source of business for us in the early days.

One job turned into another. And here we are ten years later.
Here's something most people don't know about me.

My grandfather used to cut trees back in Cuba. My dad ran a fence business here. When I was deciding what direction to take I looked at both paths and chose trees, just like my grandfather before me.

It feels like it was always meant to go this way.

Now here's something I feel strongly about.

I love helping people, especially after a storm hits and they're dealing with real damage to their property.

What I can't stand are the companies that show up after a hurricane and take advantage of people who are scared and desperate. You've probably seen them. They chase storms across the state and disappear the second they get paid.

That's not who we are.

I live in this same community. My kids go to school here. I'm not trying to take advantage of anyone. I'm just trying to earn an honest living doing work I'm genuinely proud of.

We're a local family business. When you call us you get us.
