During the "Keep America Great" rally that took place on January 16th, 2020, the governor of Florida, Gov. Ron DeSantis gave opening remarks before the vice president gave his campaign speech. In DeSantis's opening remarks, he clearly showed opposition to the opposing party's candidate, Joe Biden.
Speculations were going around that he was building the foundation to his interest in running for the presidential position come 2024. People showed him their support if he planned to run. Rosie Paulsen stated that DeSantis was still needed in Florida, and she didn't want to lose him to a national campaign. But if he was running alongside Donald Trump, then she would be on the campaign.
That's what a civic leader is. Having the interest of other people at heart, serving the community, and trying as much as possible to make a difference.
