“The colors, textures, and objects in the work are rooted in my experience of growing up in Florida and the South. I want the work to bring back a sense of nostalgia while encouraging viewers to think about their own childhoods and the things, both good and bad, that shaped who they are. Both personal and familiar, Instant Grit is a reflection on nostalgia, place, and the beautiful roughness of growing up.”

Jake Greatens is the co-owner of CASS contemporary and artist behind our upcoming exhibition, Instant Grit.

Irene Lopez Leon is a painter and muralist born in Hospitalet de Llobregat, Barcelona. She is known for artworks that blend the figurative and the abstract concepts within a vibrant play of color.
Our client loves the beautiful vibrancy of these pieces. He says the realism of the birds paired with the slightly exaggerated bright, tropical motif is really captivating.

Our client has a connection to butterflies rooted from her childhood. This seemed like the perfect piece to capture those memories and elevate the decoration of her home.
This work was created by Mantra. Youri Cansell, known as Mantra, is a consummate artist and naturalist. While equally adept at painting humans as animals, Mantra is especially fascinated by entomology, the world of insects. Mining memories of his childhood garden in France, he now paints exquisite pieces, often of moths and butterflies.

This piece by James Verbicky’s is now in our clients’ home, adding color to their family room. Our clients love abstract art, and a splash piece like this one not only brings character into their home, but also can be enjoyed by everyone who visits their house.
Polish Canadian artist James Verbicky was born in 1973 and lived the majority of his early life in British Columbia before immigrating to the United States in the early 2000s. He has been the focus of international exhibitions ranging from Berlin to Bangkok, Beirut to New York City, Boston, Washington D.C., and Los Angeles. His pieces have been auctioned by Sothebys & Christie’s, and are counted in thousands of important private, public, celebrity and museum collections in countries all over the world.
