Nobody warns you about this part of entrepreneurship.

Not the business books, not the mentors, not the LinkedIn gurus posting their revenue screenshots at 6am.

Nobody warns you that the price of building something great is that you come home completely empty, physically present but mentally still in the boardroom, and your partner is lying next to someone who hasn't really shown up in months.

You are not tired because you are weak. You are tired because your brain has been in threat mode since 7am and threat mode does not mix well with desire. It is neuroscience, not a character flaw.

But here is the uncomfortable part, your partner does not know about threat mode. They just know you are not there. And the silence in that bedroom is louder than any missed quarterly target.

When was the last time you were actually, fully present in that room? Not scrolling through emails in your head. Not replaying a client objection. Just there.

It is your nervous system asking for the discomfort to stop.

When the threat brain fires in a high-stakes price conversation, it wants resolution fast. Dropping the number stops the tension faster than holding it. So you drop. You call it flexibility. And somewhere in the back of your mind you know you just lost something that had nothing to do with the money.
