FYI: We are experiencing a power-related outage that affects internet for 226 of our users on the north side of Taos. One of our fiber routes has been restored as of 10 minutes ago. We have live traffic flowing through it. We expect cell and phone service for Taos residents to also come online this afternoon.

Another Lumen update, this one much more encouraging. No ETA, but more than 50% of the work seems to have been completed:

A 72-count, 96-count, and a 36-count fiber cable were damaged between multiple utility holes. Replacement fiber has been placed and splicing at the South end of the site has been completed. Field personnel have completed repairs on 36 strands of one 72-replacement fiber in the middle utility hole, with two additional 72 fibers remaining to be spliced. At the final utility hole teams are working to build a splice case and then splicing will commence.

Lumen update: 2023-06-07 18:51:51 GMT - The tangling had occurred while splice teams were pulling in the replacement cable last night. The replacement cable has been straightened and placed. Splicing has commenced; however, an Estimated Time to Repair (ETTR) has not been established.

Here's the latest update from Lumen/CenturyLink regarding the Taos fiber repair: "The additional splicing team has arrive3 on site and is working to untangle the replacement fiber. Once the replacement cable is placed technicians will begin preparation of the fiber for splicing. Preparation of cables can be time consuming as once the cable is excavated, the splicing crew must then strip the protective sheath from the main cable and from each individual strand. Once this has been performed, technicians then clean the fiber and cleave it to make a clean cut in order to ensure optimal fusion to the replacement section of cable. Once preparations are completed, fiber splicing will commence."
