The Story Behind Tres Primos
There are moments in life when you don't realize you're planting the seeds of something that will one day change your life.
For me, those seeds were planted long before Legacy Tales ever existed.
They were planted in my family.
"Tres Primos" means Three Cousins.
When we were young, my cousins and I spent countless hours creating together. We made movies with a VHS camcorder, dreamed up stories, laughed until our stomachs hurt, and imagined worlds that didn't yet exist.
We weren't building a company.
We were building memories.
None of us knew those moments would become part of the foundation for everything I would create decades later.
Years passed.
Life became more complicated.
There were careers.
Responsibilities.
Heartbreak.
Loss.
The kind of experiences that quietly reshape who you are.
Then my mom passed away.
Like so many families, we discovered that what we wanted most wasn't something we could inherit.
We wanted one more conversation.
One more story.
One more chance to hear her voice.
We had one video.
A few voicemails.
That was it.
It wasn't enough.
Not because we didn't love her.
Because we never imagined there would come a day when we couldn't ask another question.
That realization changed everything.
I began asking myself...
Why do we wait?
Why do we wait until someone is gone before realizing what we wish we had preserved?
Not just their photographs.
Their laughter.
Their wisdom.
Their stories.
The little moments that make someone unmistakably them.
That's how Legacy Tales was born.
Not as another app.
But as a way of helping families preserve the moments that become priceless.
A place where grandparents can tell their stories.
Parents can leave messages for future generations.
Children can ask questions they may never think to ask until years later.
Where love has somewhere to live.
Recently, I recorded my own Legacy Video.
It was an unexpectedly emotional experience.
There I was, answering the very questions we've created for others.
Talking about my life.
My family.
My dreams.
The lessons I hope someone remembers someday.
It reminded me of something beautiful.
Legacy isn't something we leave behind at the end of our lives.
Legacy is something we create every single day.
Every conversation.
Every story.
Every act of love.
If there's one thing I've learned through building Legacy Tales, it's this:
Every person carries an invisible library.
Most of us only ever read a few chapters.
Ask another question.
Listen a little longer.
Record the story.
Because one day, someone you love may treasure that conversation more than anything you could ever leave them.
