Sometimes the hardest person to forgive is the one looking back at us in the mirror. 🤍

For the choices we made.
The things we didn’t know.
The times we stayed too long.

The moments we wish we could change.

But here’s what I’m learning...
We have to stop putting our younger selves on trial using everything we’ve learned since then.

She didn’t know better.
She hadn’t lived it yet.

And maybe she deserves the same compassion we’ve learned to give everyone else. 🌹

I used to think forgiveness was something I completed.

Now I see it as something I practice.

Sometimes an old memory comes back. Sometimes I notice I’m telling myself the same story again.

And I get another opportunity to choose peace.

Healing doesn’t have to happen all at once. 🤍

“My mom had things she did that I thought were so... Mom.

The way she saved containers because they were ‘perfectly good.’

The way she baked or cooked my favorite things when I would visit.

The thing she always said when I called “H A L O”

The little routines I barely noticed because they were always there.

And then one day...
I caught myself doing one of them.
And I laughed.

Because somehow, without realizing it...
a little piece of her had become a little piece of me.

Maybe that’s one of the beautiful things about family.

We carry each other in ways we don’t even notice.

Grief sometimes looks like 4 eggs 🍳🥚
In this clip my dad shares about the first time he made eggs for my niece.

The beauty of this story is that I captured a story that will touch my heart and our family’s and I know this story will be one I treasure.

Because sometimes… the smallest stories carry an entire lifetime of love ❤️ inside them.
