THE RECALL WORKED… ON THE FIRST TRY. 👀🐕
But the real lesson isn’t the recall.
This was an insecure puppy experiencing new things in a highly stimulating environment—with his favorite people, kids, movement, distractions and all the excitement that comes with it.
Instead of flooding him with commands or trying to “make” him confident, I focused on calm leadership.
When a dog feels unsure, your job isn’t to match their nervous energy.
It’s to become the calmest thing in their environment.
I let him take in the world. I gave him clear direction. I stayed calm, confident and predictable.
And when it was time to test his recall?
He came. 🐾
That’s the difference between controlling a dog and building a dog who wants to stay connected to you.
Would your dog come back to you in THIS environment? 👇
