🎧 On my morning walk, I listened to episode 443 of Gretchen Rubin’s Happier podcast: Clear the Decks! I thought it was just about prepping for fall—but it was really about using September as a reset (kind of like January).
I’ve always felt that way—new planner, fresh notebooks, sharp pens. September = back-to-school energy. ✨
Here are a few of their tips (plus some of my own) that spoke to this Organizer’s heart:
Physical Clutter:
Clean out your wallet, purse, or backpack. Toss receipts and gum wrappers.
Reset your car. Goodbye beach chair, hello soccer chair. đźš—
Refresh your sock drawer. Baystate Textiles bins can recycle the rejects. Most schools have these bins on their property and they partner with the schools and give them a kick back based on the amount of their donations. Win-win!
Do a 10-minute family clean-up before bed. Waking up to order = đź’Ż.
Digital Clutter:
Delete unused apps.
Unsubscribe from newsletters you never read.
Unfollow podcasts you don’t listen to.
Set one bill to auto-pay (no more late fees).
Bonus Ideas:
Check boots, jackets, hats, and gloves before you need them.
Swap summer gear for winter gear in your garage. Test that snowblower now (the Farmer’s Almanac says it’s going to be a snowy one—ugh!).
What do you do to reset yourself in September? Let me know in the comments!
