A little mystery, a lot of laughs, and a great group of people! 🕵️‍♂️

This weekend, the Walk Your Plans Sioux Falls studio became the setting for a murder mystery party, proving there’s more than one way to bring people together in this space!

While our everyday focus is helping people experience spaces at full scale, explore possibilities, and make confident decisions before building, we love seeing the studio create opportunities for connection, collaboration, and a little fun, too.

A huge thank-you to Wayne for serving as our MC and to all the actors who brought the characters to life and made the evening such a memorable experience!

Who says a space can only be used for what it was originally designed for? 😉

With the Remodel Parade of Homes happening this weekend, we thought it was a good time to share one of the first remodel projects walked at Walk Your Plans Sioux Falls.

This project with Krumvieda Companies was completed recently, but the most interesting part happened before construction ever began.

A remodel can look great on paper and still feel different when you experience it at full scale.

Their client was prepared to move forward with the plans as they were. But Krumvieda brought them into the studio to walk through the space before construction began.

Once they stepped into it, something changed.

They started thinking about how they would actually live in the space.

The refrigerator was moved to a more convenient location, which opened up an opportunity for a natural transition of open cabinetry from the kitchen into the living room. It also created a better visual experience when entering the home through the front door.

Then they experienced the office and bedroom spaces.

They realized they felt too small.

The plans changed again. Two smaller spaces became one larger bedroom, creating additional room for closets and allowing for a better primary bathroom layout.

None of those decisions were necessarily obvious from a 2D floor plan.

They became obvious when they stepped into the space.

That’s the value of design validation.

Really enjoyed hosting the Sioux Falls Young Professionals Network for Off the Clock at Walk Your Plans Sioux Falls!

We believe supporting young professionals and creating opportunities for people to connect, build relationships and get to know others in our community is important. Last night was a great example of that.

A focused working session brings the right people together to see the design, ask questions and work through decisions before construction begins.

It won't prevent every issue.

But it can help catch questions earlier, reduce back-and-forth and keep a team from getting held up when something needs to be figured out later.

The goal isn't to add time to the process.
