IMTT Tehachapi, CCW (California Concealed Weapon) we are certified by the California DOJ, and Kern county Sheriff to conduct these classes. Sad day, Johnny Berlanga has passed.

My good long term friend, partner, teammate and comrade in arms is gone. We served in the Department together, SWAT team, same military unit, and neighbors. The guy always had my back, when we were outnumbered, against the wall more than once, shots fired, and came out fighting together. Loyal and a warrior until the last. We stood our mud together many times, and he never gave an inch.

John was a member of the famed 82nd Airborne Infantry. He earned his EIB and went "true blue”, for those that know. He was a SFC E-7, Airborne and Air Assault with EIB. His unit jumped into Grenada first wave out of the birds. His company was first on the ground. Injured and couldn't make the jump at the last minute, his life regret. He also served as a Drill Sergeant and completed the Drill Sergeant course at Fort Jackson S.C. Dozens upon dozens of other schools including Gunsite, SEAL Team 3 ground warfare course, Advanced LAPD SWAT school, and the Adv weapon course Air Force Pararescue, among many others.

Damn we had done laughs and good times. Fair winds and following seas, rest in peace Johnny. God bless, he is at peace now.

Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR) from Ohio Ordnance Works. A very cool and iconic rifle. I’ve shot the original in full auto, (super bad a*z!) but never this version. This was introduced in 2014. It has 20 & 30 round magazines. They further claim it will do 1 MOA out to 1000 yards, that’s a pretty bold statement. I have no idea, but none the less pretty cool. I’d rather own one that looked ecstatically more like the original. This will put you back 3600-4000 USD per copy. Bring your money

Get this book, highly recommend!

Much has been said and written about the Azov Regiment, the now infamous volunteer unit formed during the long war in the Donbas. Amid the allegations and sensationalism from both Western and Russian media stands this unique first-hand account of what life was like in the notorious independent battalion.

In The Foreigner Group, Swedish volunteer Carolus Löfroos offers in vivid detail his experience from 2014 to 2015 among the motley crew of Azov's foreign fighter wing. Löfroos' insight covers the period from the Euromaidan protests to the rocket attacks on Mariupol, all the way to the skirmishes in post-Soviet backwater villages like Shyrokyne, until the cease-fire agreement in 2015. Contained in this account is an invaluable piece of history which details the long war in the Donbas, setting the stage for the 2022 Russo-Ukrainian War-the latter cannot be fully understood without knowledge of the former.

“The forward observer” magazine -A black rifle coffee publication- printed and distributed quarterly. Well written, extremely interesting, and expertly assembled. I am fan of “Soldier of Fortune” magazine. This has many similarities, the editor and staff writers are all veterans. They embed with military units in conflict zones and first responders reporting on ground truth. Marty Skovlund Jr is the editor, is a former U.S. Army Ranger with combat service. This magazine has a real SOF magazine flavor with a twist for the modern times, and current combat warrior generation. It’s very reflective of vets today and their attitudes, higher level of education as a group, and concerns in the modern era, but equally respectful to veterans of the past, and their contributions. It’s far more insightful, and not as raw as former publications of its type. There’s no obvious political slant, and it’s seems they go out of their way to avoid it. This is no way rah rah propaganda or combative & disrespectful to anyone. I think it is designed for a much broader appeal to the masses for consumption. It’s comes across as true journalism without spin. Much more sophisticated, reflective of the values, attitudes, ethos, and problems of veterans today; it’s very well done. Far different in many ways than forerunners of its type / genre. Check it out, I highly recommend…don’t expect “Soldier of Fortune”, but it will work. 😎

DMR IMTT Northern Europe rifle championship

Hello all!
On April 29th in Finland, we are sponsoring and conducting the IMTT DMR Northern Europe championship. In order to attend and compete you must be enrolled in the DMR course being conducted that weekend, or be a graduate of our DMR course previously. The courses of fire, and drills are focused on DMR, not sniper, or carbine rifle. Entry is limited, if you're interested please contact me directly. There will be a plaque for 1st place, and of course prizes.
The Entry fee is 45 Euros, these are mystery stages of fire no publication of the stages will be published and or shared. It will be explained on site then you shoot. Lodging is provided with a sauna Saturday night, and included.

ShotShow 2023, a few things. My priority this year is weapon scopes; DMR / scout /Hunting types, and some handgun optics. There’s so much product, and so many vendors that you must set priorities, or you’ll get lost, and side tracked on the amount of shiny things (a lot of junk). This year one our vendors sponsored me to attend, again (School of Arms, SALINAS Ca.) I typically don’t like going to the show. This is my 14th show over the years. It’s a zoo! I’ll be posting some of my findings of optic over the next two days. What I like, new products, and what I saw. Only a small sample. Take care
