SPRING FORWARD!
Another glorious time change is coming. Which means…your baby’s schedule will change 😵‍💫Luckily this is the easiest time change! There are 2 different things you can do…

🌷Don’t do anything! If your baby was waking at 6 and in bed at 7, then their schedule will just land an hour later. They will wake at 7 and go to bed at 8 which is totally fine if it works for you. Don’t do this if your baby’s bedtime is already 8 or later.

🌷Adjust over the weekend. On Sunday you’ll wake your baby at their normal wake up time. It will feel like an hour earlier to them but it’s a quick way to keep them on their normal schedule!

Good ole daylight savings time! Anyone ready for time change to end 🤪Here’s 3 things you can do with your little ones schedule to not make your days flip upside down!

🎃Do nothing! This works if your little one isn’t an early riser and you don’t mind their schedule shifting an hour earlier as long as their wake up time isn’t before 6am.
🎃Start tomorrow and shift wake up time, nap times, and bedtime 10 min later each day. That way when Sunday comes you will reach 1 hour and they will be on their normal schedule.
🎃Start friday and shift the time by 15 minutes each day thru Monday.

Sometimes this will require leaving your child in the crib/bed for a bit after they wake up if they wake up too early. Still keep on track with pushing naps and bed so we don’t reinforce the earlier wake up time. Give it some grace…this one is harder then spring forward. But after a week your little one will be back to their normal schedule! Happy Halloween 👻

😵‍💫1 to 0 NAP TRANSITION 😵‍💫
Well guys…my little girl turned 3 last week! And with that came a nap transition 💀How did i know she needed to drop her only nap? Pretty simple…she was waking consistently every night. Some nights was 2-3 times. I tried some behavioral tactics first. And when that wasn’t working I decided to give no nap a go. And immediately she started sleeping through the night again 👏🏻🙌🏻Surprisingly, she’s been pretty pleasant. More than normal actually 🤨Anywho…so her no nap schedule looks like this: 630/7am wake up and 7pm bedtime. This prompted me to also put my son on a set schedule to line up their bedtimes. His schedule is now 6/630am wake up, 12-2pm nap, 7pm bedtime. It is really nice to have both kids asleep by 7 and have them both sleep all night again 🙌🏻To fill the void of naptime with my toddler…she does a more calm activity instead of running around like a crazy person so her body gets somewhat of a rest. And while she does that I make my second cup of coffee 😅I think this transition is harder on me then her!

☀️Early Morning Wakings☀️
A 6-7am wake time is so common in most babies/kids. Early morning wakings occur before 6am. Why? Because around 4am melatonin drops and cortisol starts to rise making it very easy to be woken. And if we don’t teach our littles to fall back asleep during these early times, they will get trapped in a vicious cycle. So many parents I hear will just start their day at 5am cause “there was no way they were going back to sleep.” I like the good ole fashion phrase…you never know until you try. My son is 14 months. He’s getting 3 molars and another bottom tooth. He was easily awoken this morning at 520. Since he’s sleep trained he really doesn’t cry/whine/scream when he wakes up. His typical wake time is 615/630. So you know what I did…I left him in his crib until his wake time. He rolled around a lot, sat up, let out a couple whines at the end (cause he was tired) and look at that…back to sleep! We don’t leave them in the crib to be mean, we are teaching them that this is not wake up time and when mommy comes in to get you that’s when it’s wake up time. Its a super important skill to teach so that your baby’s internal clock doesn’t get set to that 5am waking because you reinforced that early waking by starting the day. Early mornings are a hard thing to battle once they become consistent, but you can conquer them.

If early mornings are ruining your day, send me a message and let’s get your little one back on track!

We are currently undergoing this with my son now at just after a year old. A little earlier then I usually like but he was showing most of the signs.

🎇Taking a long time to fall asleep for his second nap.

🎇 Taking a long time to fall asleep for bedtime. Usually by 4.5 hours he’d finally be asleep. Wake time before bed was already maxed out at 4 hours.

🎇Waking up early…usually 5-530.

🎇He’s been consistently doing this for a couple weeks.

The only thing missing was night wakings. But he’s been a very good sleeper since I started him as a newborn.

If you have a sensitive sleeper, you will have to take this slow. Add 15-30 min each day until you reach a mid day nap of 12/12:30.

I like the cold turkey approach for non sensitive sleepers. Aka my son. Yesterday I had him nap at 12:15. He woke up after an hour, as expected due to being overtired. But I went in, rocked him for 5 minutes, laid him back down drowsy/awake and he went back to sleep till i woke him up at 3! Bedtime was 7:30 and he slept straight thru till 6:35!

Wake windows for this schedule are 5-6 hours before naptime and 4-5 hours before bedtime. If naps are short then bedtime may be as early as 6pm.

The American Academy of Pediatrics just came out with some updates in regards to safe sleep for babies 🙌🏻 Please check these out! I’m loving these changes as it’s something I have agreed with from the beginning 👏🏻

As we are fighting the plague over here ☠️ I wanted to remind y’all that when our little ones are sick…any type of schedule or training goes out the window. Rest is best ❤️ This guy is on a 2 nap schedule and took 3 naps yesterday…one of them snuggling with me 🥰 His normal 3 hour wake windows turned into like 2.5 hours. And you know what…he still slept all night. It’s best to take your babies lead. They know what their bodies need. You can keep wake windows in mind as far as not going past them, and can still lay them down drowsy, but if they need extra help that’s ok❤️

Hey there y’all! It’s been a while 😅Life has been super busy and I really needed to take a break to focus on my family. So many changes have happened with my littles. We have conquered:
☀️Potty trained my daughter completely for days and nights at 27 months old!
☀️Transitioned her to a big girl bed simultaneously (I chose a full size floor bed instead of a toddler bed)
☀️Completely took her pacifier away
☀️Dropped her one and only nap 🙃
☀️Got my son on a 2 nap schedule at 6.5 months old (now 10 months old)

My daughter has had quite the off and on ride of wake ups at night since all her changes. A lot went on so I get it. It always falls back to one thing with toddlers…explaining things to them and being firm. They like to push back because that’s what toddlers do. The second you give into anything, they take it and run!

I’m really hoping to keep back up with sharing tips and tricks of sleep and things that worked for me thru all these different transitions! And I am always open to taking clients as well! I’m just not a super social media type of person unfortunately 😅

SPRING FORWARD!
Another glorious time change is coming. Which means…your baby’s schedule will change 😵‍💫There are 3 different things you can do…

🌷Don’t do anything! If your baby was waking at 6 and in bed at 7, then their schedule will just land an hour later. They will wake at 7 and go to bed at 8 which is totally fine if it works for you. This is not a good option for baby’s whose bedtime is 8 or later.
🌷Starting tomorrow adjust your baby’s schedule 10 min earlier each day. If they are on a set schedule then you will shift wake up, nap time and bedtime by 10 min earlier each day till Sunday when they will be on their normal schedule. If you follow wake windows then naturally your baby’s schedule will change based on the earlier wake up time.
🌷Adjust over the weekend. On Sunday you’ll wake your baby 30 min earlier. This one can be confusing cause the time has already changed. Basically if your baby wakes at 6 normally, that’ll now be 7. So you will want to do 30 min earlier from the new time, so you’d wake baby at 630 and adjust from there. And you’ll do the same on Monday which will technically be their “normal” schedule.

It’s a lot of info so feel free to DM with any questions at all ❤️

If a coffee mug could talk…it would be this mug. “All mom wants is a silent night.” I have been super absent since having my son. Adjusting has been hard on my toddler. Super hard. And now…we are in sleep regression hell. Our house has been taken over by not just the 4 month sleep regression but the 24 month one as well. It has been super hard and we aren’t getting much sleep. But this phase is temporary. It won’t last forever. So for now I will drink my second cup of coffee at 2pm, take care of my family, and be back with sleep tips hopefully soon. Just need to take a step back from my business to get my own life in order. I believe in being 💯 with y’all. Sleep is not always perfect. Even for us consultants 🤪but once we come out of these regressions, we go back to the training and get good sleepers again ❤️

I wanted to share this video I got over the weekend! This is how active our babies can be in REM sleep! For 45 seconds he moves around and then BAM back to sleep for another hour or so 😆 This is why I always say to wait a couple minutes before you intervene because you can actually wake them up unintentionally. You will know when they are truly awake trust me they will let you know 🤪Otherwise give them that time to make sure they are just in REM sleep and even if they aren’t…you might be surprised they may just put themselves back to sleep 🥰
